St165 blowing the 100 amp fuse when revving.

As the heading says st165 runs fine while idling but the moment I rev it hard it blows the 100 amp blue fuse after about 5 seconds. Sometimes it is fine but it blew the fuse 3-4 times already. Any idea what it could be ?

Is it the amp fuse or the charge fuse? It might be a bad alternator over charging blowing the fuse under a hard rev..

not sure. it is the one that looks like this.

Its in the fuse box in the engine bay located right next to the battery.

Sounds like the alt fuse. Do you have a meter to test the battery or charging system. Sounds like a bad alternator. You shouldn't have more than 14.5 volts under a rev.

Just went through my book and found out it is the alt fuse you keep blowing.

Thanks guys. I didnt get a chance to measure the voltage output of the alternator. Ive already pulled the alternator for a rebuild. Also noticed that the 8ga wire that goes from fuse box to the battery +ve terminal gets very hot.

Does anyone know if there is a fusible link on the wire that goes between the alternator and the battery ? Or is it just a straight up wire ?

straight wire from alt to fusebox, then linked to battery
