The throttle body is connected to the intake manifold and the intake manifold is connected to the head. So yes while it is possible to keep both intact while removing the head, it will add a lot of weight and complexity to the removal. It can be done.
A blown headgasket will provide certain symptoms such as bubbles in the coolant, coolant smell from the exhaust, oil mixing in the coolant causing that "milkshake" appearance, and your engine overheating.

You can also do leakdown and carbon tests to see if it's failing.
I don't know that it is possible... I changed the valve cover gasket on mine a month or two ago. With the throttle body on, I couldn't lift the valve cover up high enough to clear the camshaft bearing caps. And you'll need to get the cover off and camshafts out in order to get access to the head bolts. It may be possible to clear the bearing caps, but it wasn't worth the time and was easier to just remove the throttle body.
But why would you even want to do this? The throttle body is held on with 4 bolts and takes all of 2 minutes to remove. So I'm not sure you'd gain anything by leaving it attached.

If you've got it out already IMO do the headgasket and studs if you don't know their history.

You'll need the transmission attached to do a compression check, but you can do a leakdown test with the engine on a stand; as long as the timing belt is installed.
And yes, you can pull the head in or out of the car with the intake manifold on.
Not much sense leaving it on if the engine is out of the car though.

Timing belt is off the car... So can't do that... I guess I will go ahead and change it... Just makes sense since the engine is out and on an engine stand just wasn't planning and extra 300$ lol... Anyways it is what it is, I miss driving my gt4...can't wait to get it running... My turbo might be shot as well... I have a little side to side shaft play no front to back
