ST165 PropRod Holder

I broke the holder for my prop rod (the rod that holds the hood up). It's the end where the rod pivots, not the clip end. I couldn't find all the pieces but did find enough to get some measurements. Thinking that with a little luck a 3D printed part may work, I gave it a shot. The 3D model looks like this:

You can download the STL file here if you happen to need one and have access to a 3D printer.

I used cheap PLA filament because that's what I had. I set the slicer up with 0.15 mm layer height, 100% infill with 3 vertical shells to create an almost solid part without voids.

The part snaps into position and holds the prop rod. Only time will tell how well it holds up.

EDIT to add a photo of the part in action:

Almost 24 hours and it ain't-broke-yet! :p

It's now more than two months into daily driver duty and holding up fine. Of course it doesn't have to do much.

I do take a peek under the hood every week or two to check oil or fiddle with something, so it's not like it's just been sitting there doing nothing.
