1990 GT 1990 ALLTRAC swap

Postby wes90gt » Thu Apr 28, 2011 3:10 pm

I have a totaled 1990 alltrac the engine and all running gear are in good condition. I want to put those into my beautiful 1990 GT that I am second owner and have had it for the last 17 years, the engine and transmission of the GT are tired.
Anyone know if the rear axle assembly from a 1990 alltrac will bolt into a 1990 GT? Any major issues, frame welding etc? A LITTLE work I expect. I know the engine and transmission are a given, have everthing including all wiring etc.

i know a fella who prepped his GT for the rear assembly...it can be done but he "tubbed" out his entire car to prep it for the alltrac drive train..Its a alot more than "a little work" lol...but can be done...

Just take a quick peek under each car...

The complete floorpan and rear suspension are different on the Alltrac vs. FWD car. It is a TON of work to do right and it would probably cost less to find a nice condition Alltrac with a bad motor to put your good motor in... and you would end up with a better car when you were done.
