ok ihave an st165 wad turbocelica 1988 and it has a blown moter and i was thinking........can i put an st185 engine on the car while still keeping the st165 tranny can this be done? and will i need the st185 ecu ?

i dont see why not the 165 trans will bolt the the 185 3s. i mean ive seen people put 1st gen st165 3sgtes using the s-53 (5th gen celica GT) transmission, the harness will be harder to work with...i have a 2nd gen st185 3sgte using the s-53 trans. all the ST-1** have the same bolt patterns for the transmissions correct me if im wrong...and i believe you will need a 185 ecu though....but try this website http://www.gtfour.ca/ i believe he has wiring conversions for putting 2nd gen 3sgtes into st165s

I def. recomend Doc tweak from phoneix tunning, I think his site is http://www.phoenixtuning.com, he did my buddies wiring harness, he said it was well worth every penny, and made it easy,

What's up with Doc and you advertising for him?
Do you work for him?
Most of us know Doc but this is like 7th thread that you posted same thing over and over.
Some of these threads are over 2 year old. :shrug:

whoops my bad, i didn't see that they were old, no i don't work for him, he has help like a couple of my buddies out with wiring harness for their mr2 swaps, all my buddies really liked his finished product
