Radio Kit

Postby Killtodie » Thu Aug 23, 2012 6:04 pm

Trying to find a 1din radio kit for my ST165. Places like Crutchfield dont seem to have it, or have an All Trac as a selectable trim.

Found some on eBay that say they will work but the picture does not seem correct, so I'm not sure.
For example, this here looks like what I need but says it wont fit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Complete-Toyota ... 6rk%3D2%26

This here does not look like it will work but says it will
http://www.ebay.com/itm/390327013584?_t ... 97.c0.m619

What will work?

ok, so I'm told that an after market radio will mount right to the stock bracket and all I need is a pocket and a wire harness.

More or less, yes. you should look for a Camry box with the door on the front of it. Get that box and a radio and both will screw into the bracket that you bolt to the dash frame. I guarantee your happiness thereafter.

Yes, most of the boxes may be called " double din " any of the older toyota product boxes are the same , camry , celica , pick up , 4 runner ... I'm not saying to buy this one but one like it is what you would be looking for http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-2001-Toyot ... 2c65965918 Some have doors , some dont. Just gotta find one ya like ... :smokes:

Thanks, I prefer something with a flip door, if one was ever made and used in a Toyota.

second question, I measured the front speaker and its smaller than 4", about 3.5" while the rear is 4"

but websites like crutchfield says the car uses 4 and 5. Am I measuring the speaker wrong? I'm measuring the size of the cone, not from mounting bracket.

What is the front and rear speaker size?
