speedometer broke

I am just wondering if anybody has ever have there speedometer stop working in their car because mine went out last week and now I dont know how fast I am going unless I go bye the rpm's. I was thinking it was the wire in the tranny but there is a new tranny and it still doesn't work.

I need help.

there is acable that runs from the gear in the tranny to yhe guage cluster.. there are about 10 points where one part joins another... check to be sure everything is together
