Postby maximus_9_11 » Mon Nov 15, 2004 12:14 am

Anybody know of any difficulties i would have placing jdm electronic folding side mirrors on my u.s. 185? im an electrician so i don't think the wiring will be a problem, but im concerned about the mechanical compatibility. damn city parking, my mirrors take a beating. :cry:

The work fine, you just need the JDM relay and switch to be able to wire them correctly and make them fold.

Wiring diagrams? I was considering Installing mine this week. I have no idea where I'm going to put the relay either.

Okay, Look what I found back from sometime last year, and after long time searching crap that I had lying around. And I Redid it so its easier to understand, I think.

here's how it works:
The first color will be the wire from the mirror, and the second will be the wire from underneath the tweeter cover(if you have system 10) (This is the same as the harness color coming from the Relay, I assume?)

Left Mirror
------------
Light Green->Blue

Blue->Brown

Brown->Brown/white

Red->Brown/Red

Black->Brown/yellow

Dark Green->Yellow

Yellow->Dark Green

Right Mirror
-------------
Light Green->Blue/White

Blue->Blue/Red

Brown->Light Green

Red->Light Green/Red

Black->Light Green/Black

Dark Green->Green/Yellow

Yellow->Red/Yellow

Retract Function
------------------
This I'm not too sure about, so I'll just provide what I have in front of me. If you can make sense of this, please let me know.

The way this section works is with the colors relating to the mirror colors, and not the harness colors. (These colors are the ones on the left in the lists above)

|+| to Light Green ----------(M)------------- |-| to Yellow <__Retract

|-| to Light Green -----------(M)------------- |+| to Yellow <__Extend

Blue wire is High (+12V) EXCEPT when Retracted

Dark Green wire is high (+12V) EXCEPT when Extended

If you are able to decipher the retract sention, please post, so maybe we can get this one stickied. And I would enjoy finally putting my mirrors on. I've recently been having bad thoughts about selling them. I don't even know where the heck the relay fits into the puzzle with regards to the switch for adjusting the mirrors and the retract button.

The only person I know for sure that has done this is Roo. The information in this post was taken from an email that he was involved in. Credit should be given to OzGT4 (Albert Bult)

the relay is Part Number #275-249A from radioshack. 5 bucks, and that's what I'm using.
