Engine color

Postby Klas » Fri Oct 08, 2010 5:50 pm

I was thinking white block and red mayby black valvecover?
I´m in the process of powdercoating the engine block and valve cover. I can paint it in what ever color I want, but I would need some advice in choosing color.
Thanks you all

Are you going for show? stock look? ease of seeing leaks/oil?

if you want stock, black.

if you want ease of seeing leaks/oil, etc, you'll want a lighter color such as silver or red. this may seem the opposite of what one would want as it can make a motor look dirty, but it does help in diagnosing leaks, etc and where they are coming from. black would obviously be the worst for this.

if you want something for show...well, that'll have to be up to you!

I´m tired of black engine blocks. I just want a good looking engine bay.
The car is white and much of the block will be visible. I will mostly use the car for dragracing so It will not get as dirty as a dailydriver.
I´m woundering how a white engine block would look like in a white car?
I´ve searched the net for pictures of engine bays but haven´t found any good photos.
Maybe some of you guys have some nice photos you can post?

I think a white engine block would be one of the most hideous color choices possible.

I think white parts look like shit, so unnatural.

I voted red, my blocks red, I think it's sick.

I personally don't think it gets better than this:

Thanks for the picture. Thats probably the reason why you don´t see white engines very often.
I just came back from my brother, and he showed me a sample of a candy orange piece of metal he powdercoated once, pretty cool color.

I've always liked red too and had planned to go with it also, just haven't made the final decision yet!
