ST165 Window Arm Update

Postby ZeroDrift » Fri Jul 06, 2012 3:46 pm

Does anyone have new wipers that are more universal with current designs? Referring to the mounting point that wipers connect to. Most new cars have the 'U' shape connecting assembly at the end of the wiper arm.

If there are no modernizing diy's I may have to cut and weld mine and include instructions.

I believe so. Most all of the newer Toyota cars have this updated design. Can't imagine the newer Celica to be any different. As far as mixing and matching parts- seems unlikely that any newer Celica wiper arms will fit properly with the right dimensions. Never know though!

Well it was sunny with afternoon showers forecasted. So I decided to try the window wiper modifications today!

All in all, it took only 2 hours from start to finish and they work amazingly well. I will post pictures tonight.

Quick DIY guide:

Parts:

-Passenger side Paseo wiper arm (for passenger side)
-Drivers and passenger side Saab 9000 wiper arms (drivers side for drivers side and passenger side for the rear)
-Rivets (stainless is ideal)

Tools:
-Grinder/saw
-Standard screw drivers (pair)
-Rivet tool
-Pliers
-Paint
-Extra set of hands to help
-Welder for the rear arm... (not yet finished...)

Pictures should speak for themselves! If you need more help I can put in more detailed directions.
