ST165 folding Mirror question

I've seen a few pics online regarding folding mirrors let alone heated but mostly on 185. On the ST162 forum they had folding mirrors for the 86-88 which is what I'm looking for but can't find them anywhere. A buddy of mine who owns a 88 MR2 with folding mirrors is parting it out and I asked if I can have it and he said yes :D so I'm going to try to see if it's compatible with my Trac! Hopefully it works but if anyone knows where to get the real ones help would be much appreciated

Well , just meant in general what it was you were looking for. Whats on the MR2 part out ? Reason I ask is I bought a set of manual folding off ebay.uk ... obviously they are backwards than ours glass wise and you have to swap plugs from side to side but they work if yer just looking for a folding mirror ...

It's a clean 88 mr2 with a 4age in it BUT it's a lien sale car from the garage I work at! It's been sitting for about 4 years now and the original owner has disappeared off the face of the earth so if this lien sale goes through on Monday it's either I'll just pick it apart or try to buy it and save it. The reason why I want folding either power or not is because even tho our mirrors are already small I still able to clip a 2011 land rover and break the tail light "Cleared my car but forgot about my mirror" STUPID ME!

The us 165 mirrors are terrible anyway. Everyone has their own pref but I'm currently getting ready to test operation on mine and switch electric plugs. I'm torn down for a battery relocate and re-wire. But prol next week I'll be testing the motors prior to paint ....

Don't forget a write-up if things go smoothly so when I finally find a pair I can install it correctly but for now I'll try to modify the MR for temperary use cause they fold

folding mirrors are jdm and eudm for all 4th gen years

problem is jdm ones are tilted the wrong way (biased towards RHD seating, found out the hard way after shipping a set from NZ to here)
eudm ones are LHD but hard to find.

when i found out that the jdm ones are tilted with the mirror bases (the mirror housing themselves are symmetrical) i bought some EUDM mirror bases, only to find out what the mirror housing doesn't fit correctly on the JDM mirror bases...

so in any case, if you want 4th gen folding mirrors that isn't from another toyota, european market LHD ones are the ones you're looking for.

I'm gonna have to look at my mirrors again up close and see if the glass is set for RHD. I'm fairly certain they are and that's what I expected them to be. They where shipped from the UK. I know the plugs are backwards so I'm guessing glass is too ...

interesting, my lhd set came from france and my rhd one came from australia and they both plugged in without any rewiring.

That is strange. I know mine are backwards for sure cause I test fit the plug which was the passenger side mirror on the drivers side ... LOL
