Anyone want to help me out??

Well, this is probably a long shot, but why not ask?

I need some help replacing my rear diff mount. From the instructions I read, it's 14 bolts and prying down the drive shaft while your extra set of hands wiggles the mount out. I don't have a problem driving to you if you have a place to work.

Im actually stupidly busy this weekend and probably should wait, but it's starting to sound like the rear half of my car is going to detach itself on the freeway. I have to stay out of boost just to keep from getting horrid clunking everytime I let off the gas.

On a related note, does anyone know what local parts place I can get a good oil for the rear diff? It probably hasn't been changed since '93.

I'll give you a hand as soon as I get out their to pick my IC. I am quitting at the end of this month which will give me a lot of time afterward! :D

^Thanks man. A local friend came through for me and we got it done. Not that there isn't plenty of other little things that need attention. How are you with FIPG?

Anyway, I need to quit whining about the drive and drive out to your place since you seem to be the only other alltrac owner around that is serious about getting things done.

Next free weekend, I'll bring the FMIC out to you if you wouldn't mind helping me out a bit.

What are you planning on doing? I hear FIPG and I see engine dismantle.

Yeah, definately need to get together to do some work. This next weekend I will probably be out at El Mirage again putting the trac through it's paces.

Things I need to get done are,
1. finish body work (looking for a drivers side wide body fender by the way if anyone has one)
2. Install Tein HA
3. Install FMIC under standard bumper
4. check AFR
5. dyno tune engine
6. paint
7. wheels
8. the end for now!

Oh yeah, AC compressor too.

^I can install the Teins and the FMIC (done both on my car) while you work on the body. I wouldn't mind learning how to do some body work myself. My car certainly needs it.

The list o' stuff to do on my car:

1. Oil pan gasket (thus the FIPG!), and since I have to take the main cat off:
2. Install downpipe, and since the cat will be off:
3. Install rebuilt CT-26, and.....
4. Install 3" midpipe
5. Install new brake rotors, pads and SS lines

Even though it's alot of work, I feel like I would be saving myself some time by waiting until I had the rebuilt turbo on hand and doing turbo, downpipe, and oil pan gasket at the same time. I should probably go ahead and install the midpipe now to get that out of the way.

Im nervous about the FIPG because I don't want to get the oil pan and all the other assemblies bolted up and then have it still leaking, or leak worse than it did before.

The oil pan is a no brainer, I wouldn't sweat it in the least bit. Are sure though, that the engine is leaking from the oil pan? Most of the time it's from somewhere else above like your main seals or the valve cover gasket that travels down to the oil pan. If it is just the oil pan you are definately lucky. I have so far replaced my valve cover gasket and grommets, rotor seal, and front main seal at which time I also replaced my idler pulley, timing belt, water pump, oil pump, and belts. Wow. I wouldn't suggest doing all of the work at the same time because it always takes more time than you think it will. Take time and do it right the first time. :D

^Already taken care of. When I first got the car, I had the engine pulled at toyota and had them do the front and rear main seals, VC gasket, power steering pump etc. I pretty much told them if they saw a leak, fix it. Im pretty sure this is my last leak!

Other than my turbo seals of course. :smokes:

I worked at toyota at the time. I wouldn't have had them do it otherwise. I think it was like $1500 to replace front and rear main seals, cam seals, VC gasket, fix power steering leak, and install new clutch. Probably a couple other minor things Im forgetting. Even then they tried to jack the price up after the fact and my car left with a couple problems it didn't have when it came in. One of which I still haven't figured out.

Toyota techs are clueless if you bring them something thats not a camry or corolla. And they'll jack the price up on you if it actually takes them some effort to fix.

EDIT: Solar, take a look on www.car-part.com for a fender. Its a junkyard inventory locator. I found a few fenders on there last time I looked.

I just noticed that this thread got 143 views.

There are a couple amazing things about that.

1. There are over 100 people who browse the socal section?

2. Out of that many views, 2 people offered to help? :?

I'm starting to develop a rather cynical view of the alltrac "community."

Or maybe its just that burrito I had for lunch. :|
