88 AllTrac for sale (possibly)

I am considering selling my 1988 AllTrac primarily because gas is expensive for a college student. Here's some basic info:
- red exterior (faded) with black leather interior (front seats in not great shape) and factory toyota sound system (tape deck doesn't work but CD does)
- ~143k on the chassis, engine is original but was rebuilt at ~120k
- turbo spools good, but blows some oil, probably going to need a rebuild in the next couple thousand miles or so
- rear diff mount thumps a bit (I've heard worse)
- power steering pump has been dead since I bought the car, but a used pump and high pressure line is included
- AC doesn't work
- cruise control doesn't work
- shifts pretty good

Items replaced ~1k ago
- spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor
- transmission fluid
- engine coolant
- air filter
- flex pipe
- engine oil (Mobil 1, replaced every 6 months which is ~1.5k miles)

Items replaced ~2k ago
- knock sensor (brand new) and knock sensor wire
- all 4 tires (Sumitomo HTR-H4 IIRC)
- all brake pads and rotors (e-brake adjusted)

The bad
- front end was hit in a parking lot probably by a delivery truck. The passenger side of the bumper is pushed in pretty far. There is no damage to the bumper, fender, headlight, radiator, etc. The only thing that was damaged was the frame extension that connects the bumper to the main frame (in front of the radiator). I unbolted that side of the bumper and re-secured it with cable, which makes it look almost normal and feel plenty strong, but is pretty hack.
- The windshield leaks slightly at the top, I have no idea why, there is no visible rust.
- The sunroof has the classic rust spot.

Bottom line:
It won't win any beauty contests, but it won't loose them either. No rust that I can see apart from the sunroof. Lot's of little things have been fixed (like the flex pipe). I wouldn't hesitate to drive just about anywhere in this car. The car is located in Somerville, MA. I'm looking for around $3500 to cover what I payed for the car and a bit of what I've put into her. That being said, throw out some offers.

Good Luck on the sale Ross !
IF I had spare cash around I'd pick it up as a project.
But I have enough going already.

Maybe Jeremy would be interested ? :p
He has a Large collection already what is One more...

My heart says to keep it and continue fixing it up, but my head says to sell it. If I still have it come spring break I intend to spend the week fixing alot of the little problems like the differential mount and power steering.

Hi Ross;

Listen to your heart. :D

It all depends on the budget, real, and future +/ -...

well ross, you know that i've been through the same thing, and the end result is i ended up keeping my current one, seeing how much i miss my old ST165... i had to instead sell my MR2, which you may know i loved dearly... but in the end, another MR2 can be had (or buy back the one i sold, as i am still hoping some time in the future, haha), but another alltrac is very difficult, esp. one in which you've put a lot of care into and/or got to a point where you want it...

i still have not yet met you in person yet, haha.

the decision is yours in the end and either way it won't be "easy". is it the space or is it the money/maintenance that is required? see if you can find what your head is saying and see if it's justified and if there are alternative solutions to it. the heart, is the heart and can't be reasoned with. but the head can be reasoned with. so go there... :)
