Of all the forums I frequent, alltrac is the one I spend the most time on. In my opinion is has one of the greatest wealths of information available for these cars, with many great build threads and many helpful and knowledgeable owners willing to help.

There are a number of quality Celica forums around. But one thing I've found is that from time to time, alltrac.net is the one commonly referenced on them for specific or detailed information.

"Everyone just chill"

I was stating an opinion. You guys are blowing it way out of proportion because Darth Ripley decided to take it personally for some reason. I could have put "in my opinion" or "of the alltracs I've seen" in front of my sentence but I figured that was obvious. Guess not. I didn't trash anyone's alltrac or say anyone's build was crap. Just stated an opinion that the only alltracs in the US >I'd< consider magazine quality are Pats and Trevors due to the overall cleanliness and detail in the builds, which I stand by.

That said, I'm always interested in seeing exceptional builds so if I've missed some please point me in the right direction. For frame of reference what *I* consider an exceptional/magazine build would have at a minimum:

-excellent paint and body, fully detailed/waxed. No fine scratches in the paint or orange peel.
-quality brand wheels in sizes/offsets that fill the wheel wells. Work, Volk, HRE, CCW, etc. No chinese or "budget" wheels. No 16x7.
-quality suspension, upgraded brakes
-no or minimal ebay/knockoff parts
-a fully detailed engine bay. engine bay painted or at least detailed and waxed. no worn stock parts or covers missing. major parts finished in some way (chromed, powder coated, painted etc.)
-well-executed engine build. Likely a turbo kit from a quality vendor. Doesn't have to make a million horsepower. Even a stock turbo WRC style build would be pretty cool if done with attention to detail.
-tasteful interior mods. including cleaned or finished rear hatch area if gutted. aftermarket or recovered stock seats. no scratched or chipped panels. no stained carpets. tasteful gauge mounting if any.

In any case didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. Hopefully you can understand where I'm coming from a bit better now, even if you don't agree with my assessment.

Peace :smokes:

I agree to your terms. Mine is far from magazine worthy but is above par I would say. Still I think we have a decent number of people who do meet the requirements above

There are many nice cars on here and a full featured one needs to be pretty special I believe. Flattered that my name was mentioned, but until I get around to brakes/suspension/wheel and properly sorting out the engine bay I don't feel mine is up to par. May consider a readers ride as its so close to stock...

Pats car is pretty wild and fits the bill for the main feature, but honestly there are many other great ones that fit the 'full feature' item for me.

You again? LOL... Im messing with you. Pretty cool build, and I agree with you. Build it for yourself, and no one else. Build it tastefully of course, as we all aspire to.

We all have valid points here. Lumbercis is fair with his list and assessment of what a clean/pristine Alltrac should look like. I agree with what someone else said. There have been cars featured in magazines that honestly don't even match most of the criteria Lumbercis mentioned on his list. So why should Alltracs be the exception for a feature?

I've seen Civics, Evo, and Subarus that look decent, but should have made it in the Reader's Rides vs full feature, while cleaner Alltracs, Galant VR4s, and rare cars won't get a second look. Why? Because many magazines follow trends, and want to sell as many issues as they can. Some Mags are obsessed with big hp numbers, some with just Hondas, Subarus and Evos.Others are obsessed with how JDM your car is  , or how VOLK'ed up your wheels are. :bs: Not everyone can afford Volks, and goes racing. Plenty use their cars daily or weekend racers and put Rotas. So the F' what!! It would be stupid not to feature a car because it has Rota Grids vs Volk TE37s. That's as shallow as one can be in my opinion.

I have to say I subscribe to many magazines, and will give the nod to Modified Mag for features you won't see in any other Magazines. Modified is the only mag to feature Alltracs so far (the yellow Centerforce ST185, and the black one in GA, owned by GT4rcdude, iirc). They've featured clean Galant VR4s, 323GTXs, Delta Integrales. Cars we all can appreciate while giving every manufacturer, and owner of clean modded cars that aren't always making a million horsepower.

Through the years of owning, building and collecting cars (something I do too well :p ), one of the things I learned is that hp is not all that matters. At my age, a well balanced car makes more sense to me than a 1000whp car that keeps breaking and costing me my kids' college education. We all have our vices, fetishes and desires, but there are plenty of clean Alltracs here that can get a feature. They may not all put down the power Pat and Trevor put, but many deserve recognition. Nothing wrong with a 450whp, clean Alltrac with wheels that don't cost $600/piece, but not tacky either.

Balance is important, and some magazine clearly lack it. They have set some stupid standards if you ask me. Build your car the best you can, don't take short cuts, or rush your build. Do it right, do it for yourself. It's your car after all. I'm off my soap box (before I slip and fall).

BTW, I have had the opportunity to meet up with some guys from DSport (very cool guys) , and we tried to get Pat's car featured a few months ago (this past June). Pat was nowhere to be found (out of town  ). So we got another buddy of mine's car featured instead at the last minute.

It's a maroon/burgundy Nissan S14/240Sx with an RB swap making over 1000whp, yeah I know (contradiction for me to say that? Not quite. They liked the car, took plenty of pics and hope to feature it). It should be in one of the future issues. In all fairness, it was not DSport Magazine's fault. I told Pat months in advance, reminded him and he didn't/couldn't come through. So enough of that. I don't think at this point that Pat cares if his car is featured in a magazine or not. If Pat wants to chyme in, he can.

Send me money. I will show you what a monster Alltrac build is.
*denominations must be in increments of $500. Now send money I command thee!!!

I think there are plenty of good examples out there and more coverage is always good.
