i have a 141xxx st185 and it is completely stock. what i wanted to ask was should i get a bov? i mean since the car originally didnt have one.... i dont really plan on doing a massive build, just something for daily driving... could not having a bov at this many miles affect anything?

i would not recommend getting one as it will potentially mess up your fuelling.... (read as overfuelling/poor economy etc)

from my experience 165/185 Air Flow Meters and BOVs that dump to atmosphere do not work well together.

leave it well alone imho. Especially if at stock boost.

perhaps only consider a re-circulating BOV if running higher boost.

not that i'm starting an arument, but I have on on my car, and it's not really an issuse, in theroy it's a problem, but in praticality it's never caused any problems. I just didn't like the idea of closeing the throttle, and having the turbo still trying to create presue in that small space.

you Just have to get it welded to your stock Top Mount intercooler, or get a 'T' hose. I think 935 motorsports sells onE. Looks like I might be getting a new TMIC really soon, I would sell you my old one with a BOV already on it.

like so:

Thats not the stock screw, I lost that, it's just a bolt I had laying around that fits. I actually have it pretty tight, if I do sell it, I will go and get a properly sized screw.

jesus you've got that bov loose enough on the adjustment screw.

thats really funny. and for the t-hoses. i thought only certain bovs could use those? i could be wrong. but since certain ones uses t-hoses, others may need a flange welded on. like that greddy type s.

hehe were driving awd, turbo'ed old cars, fuel economy should not be an issue

i doubt having a BOV fudges your fuel economy anything special. if it did then without it i'd be running like 30mpg!!!

i've gotten 25 on my setup
fmic
catless exhaust
SARD R2D2 BOV
s'about it...

Most UK 185/ata/RC/ CS owners do report 30+ mpg without a BOV ;) and better running / less stuttering etc. The cars never came with one, so why fit one if running stock boost?

RE: fuel economny / overfuelling

>>>>> Over fuelling robs power, and causes borewash/increased wear. Fuel economy is not my main concern for a Turbo AWD, but good power (Air Fuel Ratio) & reliability most certainly is!

Use a recirculating piston style BOV if running higher boost:
http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/conten ... ct=FMDV006

This will allow the ECU to provide far more accurate fuelling for the metered air flow. Rather than loosing the metered air and the ECU compensating by adding even more fuel... catch22

I didn't notice a difference between before my Blitz blowoff valve, and after it, fuel mileage wise. And I check the miles per gallon at every fill up.

heh...i guess i can't compare, unfortunately, as i've never NOT had a BOV.

car came with a gay turboxs type s on the stock TMIC
