toyota recommends gl-5 gear oil (75w90 or 80w90), but some people have had good results with syncromesh. I don't know if it was penzoil synrcomesh or gm syncromesh though.

try searching 'syncromesh' there have been a few good threads about it in the past....personally, i like to use a good synthetic gl-5...mobil1 right now.

Penzoil makes synchromesh for GM, so it's the same stuff. Autozone sells the synchromesh for about half of what the GM stuff costs.

Based on some other people's experience with it, I would only recommend it for stock'ish power levels and in transmissions that don't shift well. If your trans is in good condition or you are planning to run it hard, I'd recommend a gl-5 gear oil.

thz all

i read some mixed review of synchromesh on mr2 forum
good in some car not good in some so i dont know

but ya i alrdy bought 4 qtz of mobile 1 syn 75-90 .. so thats like $40 :(

how often do u guys change it anyway
?

thz again

Valvoline 75W-90 semi-synthetic, MR2 board has some posts on
using a blend of synchromesh .vs. 100 percent. I used the Mobil
1 in one my alltracs (with 150K) and it ground going into 2nd gear,
I switched to the Valvoline and the grind went away

Use this in my MR2 turbo also, just in case someone notes that my
current alltrac has been down for 3 years

If you want to become an expert at rev-matching, it'll be worth it.

When I ran Mobil1, it rendered the synchros worthless.
