ST165 From Montana

Postby ViciousDelta » Mon Feb 02, 2015 9:45 am

Hey everyone, ive been around for quite a while my old account was Toytuner but i couldnt get it up and working anymore so i just made a whole new one. Ive got a 1988 ST165 with roughly 72k original miles. I have owned it for over 10 years anf its always been such a labor of love keeping her running right all these years lol. It has a JDM 1st Gen 3sgte with some light mods, 5sfe crank, HKS timing belt, 3" Exhaust HKS Hi-power, Walboro fuel pump, constant inter-cooler pump. Nothing too major just some good turbo supporting mods. Ive decided its time to use her as Daily Driver so ive been getting all of the little maintenance issues fixed. New axles, drilled and slotted rotors, flushed the cooling system and converted it to Toyota RED coolant along with the inter-cooler as well.
A little about myself, Im a Retired United States Army Cavalry Scout (19D), I was wounded in combat in Aug. 2011 while deployed to Afghanistan. I had my back severely broken and had to learn to walk again. I still dont have the use of my left foot from the ankle joint down. I now work part time as a Drill Instructor at the Montana Youth Challenge Academy. Im married and have a 3 year old son. I like Guns, Cars, Drumming/music, making Hard Cider and Beer. Thanks for having me Gents!

Welcome back! The car is looking good. Is that an aftermarket hood or just painted black?

Fort Irwin eh? Good old NTC, had to do "Hands across the desert" there in 2011 because some Psy-Op guy lost his friggin NODS on the day before we were supposed to leave. They ended up finding them in his humvee after all of us spent 4 hours in the blazing sun hunting for them. I also help paint the big 5-1 Cav MSH rock. I think 5-1 is there right now or was recently.

Been there and done that many a moons! Next month is my 50th rotation and I hit 6 years here this year too. I finally get a break from this place this summer after volunteering for another deployment.

ST165 From Montana

Postby ViciousDelta » Fri Feb 06, 2015 3:34 pm

Gotta figure out the spring issue with the front end an after that a front mount. I jut put some drilled and slotted rotors and hawk pads on it and all new axles. The body has 7x,xxx miles on it so it's still pretty clean. Has a rebuilt JDM 1st gen GTE. Supra ct26 exhaust wheel, full 3in exhaust. Walboro 255lph . Also I gotta clean my IACV its idling a bit high about 1300

Is there anything you can think of that would be a dead givaway it was yours maybe a record of the vin. trying to track down some history. it would be really nice to know for sure if it is a JDM swap engine. Thank you. The guy i got it from bought it in bellingham. Im Cameron from Seattle tacoma area.

Nice Trac ... I also have about 77k ... clean body 8) Yer idle issue could be like mine. Check yer ecu for burnt resistors. You can run with the IAC unplugged but its a bitch in traffic with the a/c on if you use it. Sometimes on and off gas to fast in parking situations it will stall but not alot ...

Hey all, sorry i haven't been around for a while, been really busy the last few months, buying a house, new truck, new kid lol the whole nine yards! I have put my trac into the garage for now as i have to drive 128 miles round trip to work every day and the trac is not a good highway car as the gears are too low. Ive been driving a 1991 Celica GT. its not a bad little car but its pretty beat up. It gets awesome gas mileage since i swapped a 1992 camry 5 speed into it. the 5th gear is much taller and way better for highway driving. Anyways, Im going to start working on the trac again pretty soon. I need to replace the front axles i got for it because they are too long and they thrashed my new wheel bearings with only 50 miles of driving. So if anyone out there has a set of used front axles in good shape or if anyone knows where i can get a set of new ones please hit me up!
