im in the procees of installing my rc transmission and transfercase (in car)

at the moment removing the old one and holy fuck it's a PITA 2 hours to unbolt the axles from the transaxle itself
the previous owner when doing the swap had put them on with striped bolts :x :x :x
now a few questions to anyone who has removed it in car
do you have to remove both axles to get it out???

if anyone has anyyy pointers to make this smoother id greatly appreciate it

To answer your question.

No you don't have to. Some members like them on, I personally like the extra room so I always take mine off.

so there is enough room to slide the transmission out because
it looks like the berfeild joints will bind if i don't take them off

There will be enough room to slide the while assembly out but I like to take them of because I can replace those axle seals as well.

I think it's a heck of a lot easier with the axles taken out.

I would take off the brakes and carefully move the hubs away and out of the outer joints and take out the axles in one piece. Some people like to take them out by removing the bolts and seperating the axle pieces but that just seems like more work for me...

Get a wooden dolly if you don't have a tranny jack. Those things will help in rolling it around, rolling it under the car, whatever...
