From what I have been told the 5speed manuals use the st205 gearbox.

I learned how to drive on my Dad's GT-Four, I understand the why to this, my Dad told me once when I made a mistake that all his friends would hate me if I ruined the clutch on his car because they would have to help him replace the clutch. I am an okay driver now and I still drive a ST-185 and stops on hills still give me nightmares. I don't think it is worth all the work for something that may or may not work.

I Doubt That; but Possible. I Thought the Last year of the Caldina was '97 ?

Probably. There were Caldinas offered as manual; 1st and 2nd gens.

Which model or year of Caldina ? There were Certainly manual Caldinas.
Some came with engines Other than the 3SGTE and only fwd ?
I assumed the last generation GTFour with the 3SGTE and AWD was Only automatic. Probably 4spd ?
I have the Sales brochure, but it is in Japanese.
The '05 one I sat in at the Toyota Mega@web was automatic.

I'd have to look up That car. Was it offered with a 3sgte or an S series motor ?

There are custom gear sets for the ST185 and ST205 trannies, if you have $$$.
Change over the gears final drives to the RC or rally tranny ?
I'd love to have an an inexpensive Auto awd set up.
The new matrix USDM models have he 2.4L, w-auto only.
Pricey though. Cheaper better to do a 3sgte and auto in an older chassis...

Could you use the engine from the st246? gt4 it was auto.

This would be one hell of a project .. girlfiend loves alltracs and hates manual trans which kills it for her. If there was only a way ... start with something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-03-CA ... ories#shId maybe and spend a few years fighting with it :shrug: Now I see this one above has no ECU , but there were others that did have it in the sale , good or not who knows ... I think anyone with a brain for wiring can make this work ...

Unless you lost a critical limb (left leg or right arm) in a tragic accident and your pure and unrelenting love for all things alltrac is driving the thought of an automatic transmission... punch yourself in the face...
