KAAZ Front/Center LSD combo. SERIOUS FEELER!!!

I would just like to add that for this diff combo, it really is difficult to make a solid commitment without knowing how much we are spending.
It could be reasonable and be 2500-3000 but it could just as easily be 5000-6000, in which case that would eliminate me...
So hopefully we hear something....

Fantastic news!
This means that I'll postpone my planned gearbox maintenance.
I've added myself to the list, seen the thread only today on GT-Four.ch.
As my ST205 is mainly a road car I'm not sure if the Quaife Torsen or the Kaaz plate diffs are the better choice (around 500HP/600NM currently).
If the price is around 3000 euros including shipping and taxes I'm in.

I know exactly what you mean. At $5k-$6k that would eliminate me as well. For that amount of money it becomes unrealistic and if I'm going to go that deep in spending then I might as well buy a used Evo Maktrak and have it retrofitted. Then I'll have a 6spd sequential + front and center LSD's....

I just hope everyone is factoring in sales tax and shipping when they put their names on the list. It's easy to overlook those simple details.

Yes indeed, this is the clincher for me too, I am simply not going to waste any more time and money on the GT4 transmission.
For me it is all about performance and being competitive in my rallying, and as you say, for that sort of money, I might as well get an EVO9 box or a Maktrak.....its not that difficult to shoehorn such a system into the car...this way there are added benefits...

But we'll see, I've already invested in the Kaaz close ratio set, so to finish off what I have started will be nice...

Indeed, we have to pay 15% Goods and services tax here so that affects the price too, I prepared for it to not exactly be cheap, but at the same time I don't want to have to sell an organ....

Hi folks,

Having been following the various threads about these units for years, we have been working away to find a solution to the lack of an LSD for the Celica GT4/Alltrac.

We have been in talks with many differential manufacturers ourselves over the years, and communication went stale with almost all. However we have some news which hopefully should be music to some ears!

We have secured an exclusive deal with Quaife Engineering over here in the UK and we have a limited batch of Quaife ATB Front & Centre LSD differentials being manufactured at present :D . These will be a DIRECT FIT front/centre replacement and will feature a Quaife lifetime warranty like all of their other ATB units. Will can also supply Genuine diff bearings to go with them if needed. Anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of driving with a Quaife ATB, these things are a fantastic piece of kit. Strong, built to last, low maintenance and silent in operation.

These are due to be completed in late March/Early April 2016. I will post up pictures and so on once I have the units in stock, and from that point we can look to sort out any payments and shipping for anyone who is interested and i'll get a proper thread put together.

Costwise, initially looking to cost you guys over in the USA circa $3000USD plus shipping from the UK. Circa £2000GBP (plus VAT if you're in the EU).

Its taken a bloody long time to get here, but finally there will be an option. Looking forward to getting my ST205 apart and trying one of these out for sure.

If anyone has any questions, then please feel free to fire me over a PM or email me direct on mike@tuningdevelopments.co.uk

Many Thanks

Mike

Sorry, but does anyone else think this comes across as a bit shady? Maybe I'm being overly cautious but someone we've never heard of turning up and claiming to have access to a part from a company that recently told us to pound sand screams "scam" to me.

Tuning Developments is a reputable company in the UK.
As far as the timing goes, they may have had to announce their front/centre development project as the KAAZ development has garnered a lot of momentum.
The fact that someone else has actually got some progress with Quaife is good, considering the last time that someone made enquiries, I believe 150x units was a minimum order.

At the end of the day, 3 choices are on the table: KAAZ, Quaife or BNZ's rally specialists - when it rains, it pours?

Well that's good, in which case I'd suggest contacting them directly through their usual channels since (and I know I'm being paranoid) we can't guarantee "Mike" actually works for them.

No, at the end of today we still have 0 options :(
It'll be pouring when all three options are on the shelf ready to sell & ship.

Yeah, at this point, I would have to agree with this, and until they are in fact on the shelf and ready to ship, I'm not going to get too excited about it.
However, I do remain fairly optimistic about it actually happening though....

Anyone who has any concerns, can contact Quaife UK themselves for confirmation that these are indeed in production for us:

https://shop.quaife.co.uk/contact-us

+44 (0)1732 741 144
info@quaife.co.uk

No payments will be taken until the units are here, I will post up in a separate thread nearer to the time. These Quaife units will happen 8) . We've got good interest in half of the units available thus far.

Again apologies for jumping onto your thread Eric.

Thanks

Mike

would the center diff be configurable to 1.5? it seems 2 way might be too harsh for tarmac driving causing under steer going into a corner.

I do know on the Cusco plate LSD's you can change them between two different configurations by changing the ramps, but not all of them are....

personally I feel 1.5way would be better for tarmac and gravel.....I guess we will see what the specs are?

I wonder if we all specified on the Google document which we prefer perhaps they may take that into consideration...

Now if somebody could build us a sequential kit with rally ratios. Like maybe Samsonas or SQS. I will probably build SQS H pattern dog box next.

Would be next to impossible to change a H pattern to a sequential, the actual design is so different in terms of gear selecting, but I hear what you're saying.....You can buy a Maktrak which is sequential, but huge money....

All is not lost though, SQS does a sequential shifter which uses soleniods on a conventional H pattern gearbox for gear selection.
So the combination with the SQS Dog kit (where you can choose your final drive and ratios) and their own sequential add on, its all there.

They will need to fabricate a case and internals with a drum shifter like they do for Evo.. MacTrak is an Evo box installed on Celica with his adapter plate. You get into big money with transfer case and rear diff.

I've been in touch with several firms about sequential transmissions... Maktrak is out of business, the owner passed away and the business closed down... Our options for 6spd sequential are limited and exorbitantly expensive...
