Wow nice - going all out for the autox build? Color - my guess is periwinkle!

Oh and I have to add...

Thanks Terracar! Love the clip! Wait till you see what I'm gonna do to my helmet!

Well the car will still be my DD but will be worthy to keep up with the others in my class for auto-x. But don't expect anything close to Marteen's build....that car is just WOW!!!

19/10/2009 Update:

Taking bets ppl!

Just bought a fully built engine from a local guy who built it to rally in his FWD toyota runx but the engine proved too powerful to control. He only did two rallies with

Honestly speaking I got a good deal since if I tried to accumulate all the parts he has it would be almost twice what I paid for it.

So I will be doing the swap soon and would like to know what this engine is capable of at maybe 20 psi on pump gas. Anyone wants to venture a guess???

Here's what the build looks like:

JDM Gen II head and block
JE pistons .020" over
ARP headstuds, rodbolts and flywheel bolts\
OEM gen II rods
Micropolished and glazed crankshaft
ACL race bearings
MHG
lightened flywheel
new waterpump, oil pump & timing belt
HKS 272 In. & Ex. camshafts
Adjustable cam gears
Ferrea Dual valvesprings
Titanium retainers & locators
Supra 550cc injectors
TVIS delete and phenolic spacer
Modified genII intake manifold
Garrett T3/T4 turbo .63 turbine and 60trim compressor
HKS external wastegate
custom exhaust manifold and plumbed dump-pipe (2.5")
Link EMS

Update:

In changing the t-belt, water pump and oil pump, when the sump was removed, the oil strainer gasket got damaged so I had to order a new one which took me about 3 days to get. The guy who's doing the work on it should deliver the engine sometime today, then the work begins on swapping out the old one and putting in the new one.

I am also changing my transmission to another one which is supposed to be lower mileage and in better shape than my current one (Brass rings worn).

I bought a SARD fuel pressure reg. yesterday and sent the fuel rail to be bored out. I also bought a rear strut brace, 3/4" wheel spacers and extended wheel studs. I am also waiting on my whiteline rear sway bar to be shipped from 935.

I hate you! (read envious!)

Wow the engine sounds like it will be just a bit of fun.

Got my JUN flywheel & clutch kit this weekend. The clutch that JUN sells with their flywheel is the Exedy Stage 2...which I am very happy with since I can't ever recall someone posting a horror story about their clutches.

Hopefully it should all go in this week....stay tuned!

Nice project, and from what I see, nice car too (the only pic). Share more pics if you can. Threads like these need more pics.

Thanks Frantz.

The thing is, I have never really taken many pics of my car, but more pics of the parts that go into it.

The car is by my mech at the moment and I randomly pop in to check on it. But since the digital camera belongs to my wife and told me to never keep the camera in the car for any length of time I never remember when to take it.

I'll pick it up soon though and give you guys some pics.

Re: Project "White Trash" UPDATED 23/10/09

Wow, thread in need of an update:

Well, the shop that had my car wasn't worth a pint of crap, and they did more foolishness to my engine than any other half-@ss shop that my car has been to....so I ended up towing the car home on a flat-bed and spent a considerable amount of holiday-time back-bent over and crawling under her. A true white trash she's turning out to be!

So this is what the build now looks like, pretty similar to above just a couple minor changes:

JDM Gen II head and block
JE pistons .020" over
ARP headstuds, rodbolts and flywheel bolts
OEM gen II rods
Micropolished and glazed crankshaft
ACL race bearings
MHG
JUN flywheel and clutch
new hfh, fuel hoses, waterpump, oil pump & timing belt (all oem)
HKS 272 In. & Ex. camshafts
Adjustable cam gears (unsure of brand but solid nonetheless)
Ferrea Dual valvesprings
Ferrea Titanium retainers & locators
Supra 550cc injectors
Fuel rail bored to 8mm, with NPT plug for easy conversion to dual entry later on.
TVIS delete and phenolic spacer
polished throttle body and throttle body inlet
Modified genII intake manifold (siamese'd and ported)
WRC CT20b turbo (steel wheel)
TRD low temp. thermostat
JDM tubular SS exhaust manifold, heatwrapped and silicone sprayed
3" XS Power Downpipe, heatwrapped and silicone sprayed
LINK EMS (LEM 5.1)
twosrus solid shifter cable brass bushings
twosrus aluminum shifter base bushings
twosrus valve cover bolt set
EVO 6.5 FMIC (to install)
custom 2.5" FMIC piping kit (to install)
3 core rad., pressure checked and re-painted (need good rad. fan now)

And as far as the suspension and handling stuff goes:

RSR front strut bar (2 pt)
Ryan's rear strut bar (2 pt)
Tein SS coilovers (not arrived yet)
Whiteline rear anti-sway bar (paid for, not received yet)
Goodridge brake lines
rear camber bolts
refreshed OEM RC brake calipers with akebono pads
29.5mm front anti-sway bar

Currently she rolls on 16x7 SSR rims with a 35 offset with 215/40/16 Toyo Proxes in the back and Dunlop SP3000 front.

Further plans:

Lighten her up some more - remove oem seats and install sparco racing seats;
ACPT carbon driveshaft;
Remove electronic sunroof and install a manual fibreglass or plexiglass tilt one.
Get better tyres (if I can afford them)

So I cranked her up last nite, hoping to start but for some reason she's not starting. I believe its a fuel issue cuz the ignition is good, good spark and compression and timing are all in check. Will hook up the fuel pressure kit later and see what's up with it!

Still won't start. Its definitely fuel. There is no power to the fuel pump relay so the pump is not turning on. The ecu is good; and I'm getting a good signal to the fuel pump resistor, but after that there is no power into the relay.

I poured a bit of gas directly into the brake booster vacuum line that goes into the manifold and she started for a bit.

Started doing a compression check but the connector hose got damaged so will have to repair it and resume tonight. BTW, compression in cylinders 1&2 (that's all I got to check) both read at 150psi.

Will either drop the fuel tank and run a direct to the pump later today or borrow an external pump from a friend and get the engine started.

Before you do all that, bridge the FP to +B in your diagnostics box. Then try to start it
