I have some friends working with me to find some seat brackets in Japan. Hoping to get them by the end of the year. Still not sure what I will do with the back seat.

After a post on another thread I had been thinking about my spring rate some.

Also here is some interesting reads on the subject.
http://wrcbehindthestages.blogspot.com/ ... o.html?m=1

http://www.club3g.com/forum/wheels-tire ... rings.html

And a handy conversion tool.
http://www.unitconversion.org/torque/ne ... rsion.html

Currently have 10kg/f, 7kg/r.
I can go down to 8kg on the front without revalving. I can go down some on the rear as well.
I might drop just the front rates and leave the rears alone. If I don't like the balance, I can always get lower rates for the rear too. But by going down to 8kg in the front will be similar to the TTE 185 rates.
The rates are here: http://gtfour.supras.org.nz/suspension.htm
The lbs are wrong, but the kg conversion comes out to
F: 8.157729704
R: 7.647871597

What got me thinking about this was bump steer. I think my front traction issues might be mostly due to high front rates. Monkracing came by a bit back with a low milage stock 185. Out of curiosity I we checked its ride height and compared it to my own. We assumed that I was slammed. Based on his measurements my car seemed to be only 1.9" lower. That didn't seem right. So I looked at tein's chart in the manual for the HAs and I am only .4 lower than their recommended height. I assumed I was 2.5" or lower, but it is an illusion by my tires. My tires are 2" taller than stock. So it raises the car 1" and fills the fender wells 1" more than we expect. So my car looks 2.9" lower, but in reality it is not so extreme.
So there is a good chance my bump steer is not near as bad as I suspected. It may exist, but I think by lowering the front spring rate, and messing with the alignment I might improve the front traction issues. I never really had these traction issues during autox or even on the dragon, but when there is less than smooth pavement my front tends to skid over bumps etc.. So its something I will experiment over the winter.

I am thinking swift springs for the front. I just need to take some measurements. I might stay with the tein helper spring. http://www.swiftsprings.net/products/un ... gs-70.html

EDIT: I will also be looking into spring types after reading this. http://www.hrsprings.com/technical/detail/bump_steer

FYI, if you need reference pics of seat rails, I have 3 types: Bride, Vanner and Kyouu/NZKW. Just let me know if you need pics or particular details, then I'm happy to organise.

If you could snap a pic of the brides that would be good. That way I have some reference from the friend in Japan before they ship it to me. Maybe from the bottom so I can see the bracket orientation and spacing.
Thanks.

I was about to redo my spare wheels, but now its in the 30s, so it will have to wait. Anyhow, here are some colors I kicked around repainting them. Currently they are bronze with polished lips and center.
Most people I show lean towards 1. I am thinking maybe 3 or 1 at this point.

Thanks for the input guys. Today I pulled the fender liners. Seems the rubbing is still and issue, so I need to make some new ones. I'll likely only take the car out a couple times before winter, so I will just leave them off till spring. If I do an alignment this week I may try and do an autox.

Got a decent pic while out.

Ugh I hate looking at this thread!
It makes me regret my decision to sell my car, but it doesn't get driven and I don't have time, money, or space to work on it :/
Car looks great as usual !!

Thanks. You, shoulda kept it. ;)

So I was looking at my spring options. Tein makes a 8kg spring that these HA dampeners can handle.
Its pn: sb080-01200

I would likely go with swift springs since they have a better track record of being the spring rate that matches the description.

Tein has a chart with spring info: http://www.tein.com/products/standard_s ... _list.html

They list the spring in the 7.9" height, so I would go with an 8" swift spring.
The part number for it is: Z70-203-080

I don't know when I will make the switch, since I am dropping some cash down on my seat rails now, but I at least have my data gathered.

I find that alltracs are the best yard trash there are. I barely done 1000 miles in the past several years.

So my seat rails are sort of on the way. They are made, and sitting in shipping from one carrier to another till Dec1. Then they get sent to me.

I have been pondering the dilemma of the rear seat. The leather on my back seat is quite good, but I want everything to match.

I want the car to match and look good so I considered a few different things for the back seat. I need to keep a back seat because this is where my kid will be riding.

• I can get the rears covered in recaro fabric. This would be the best looking option, but likely the most expensive.

• Dye 185 cloth seats. If I can find a clean enough set of rear 185 seats I can then dye them black. This is a likely option, as long as I can get the fabric to take the dye. It will require a bit of work since I will need to remove the covers.

• Use 6th gen back seats. The us 6th gen seat is black with some pattern. One member used it. The fold backs look like they fit fine, but the bench does not sit flush over the hub.

• Try and fit 6th gen cloth over 5th gen foam bench. This might be the easier option, but there is not guarantee the covers will fit properly.

I could always dye the rear leather black, but I don't feel it will fit the look even then.

My wife will be taking a week off, and if it isn't snowing I want to hit the junk yards. I might see if I can take a 7th gen seat as well and maybe fit it. I think they offered a solid black cloth as an option. I think some companies make some black seat covers for the celica, but I imagine they don't fit well.

So I have been reading up more on suspension setups and look at my own setting. I really like my height, but I only have about 3/4" of travel before hitting the bump stop. The bump stop is 50mm. I talked to tein some, but they were not able to answer my questions. I have a feeling the bump stop is part of what makes my front ride so harsh. I think I will have to sacrifice some of my lowering for getting more travel. I will likely pull the spacers I made to loose some height. I will not be running full caster anyhow till I resolve the lower arm concept anyhow. That should get me 5-7mm there then I will raise the car so that it is about 15mm taller than it is now. I am kicking around the idea of getting Koni bump stops. The 70.34.95.000.0 will fit my teins, and from what I have read they are progressive and do not have such a harsh impact on the ride.
I think this will be a better choice than what I had planned. I think they will serve me well for now but I think down the road I am going to get into something much more high end. For the time being I just want to increase my stroke and change my bump stop characteristics.

I picked up a 7th gen shift assembly from a junk yard yesterday, and I may swap it into my car instead of using the ae92 shift rod.

Yes. It looks the same as my current short shifter. The reason I grabbed it is because the mechanism might improve shifting as well. I'll do a vid on it when I get a chance to tear apart the console again.

Had a couple shirts left that I posted online. www.ebay.com/usr/noritoy

Talked to tein some today. I am just going to have to raise the car to get the most out of their suspension. I'll see how they get me through next year then I may look into other options.
