FastTrac up and running

Well, its finally been a whole year since my car last ran. I think actually I just finished it right before my year mark. Its up and running great. I'm not running hardly any boost, I need to switch out my top mount so I dont have the bov anymore- although I do love the sound of it and the looks I receive not just because I am a girl driving a nice car.
Through the months its been hectic.
To start July 14th 2007, my birthday July 15th. My car finally desided to overheat. Before I bought the car (didnt even know that it was Toyota but knew I had to have it) there was a coolant hose that burst. That should have told me that it had a blown head gasket. I drove it for a couple months with no problems. On the night of the cruise it overheated, I filled it up with water and limped it 30 miles home. I put in a new koyo radiator, replaced the thermostat to a 170 degree instead of the 180 degree and filled it up with coolant. Still overheated. I think total it overheated on me 2 times if not 3. I finally got fed up, turned on my music and started to go to work taking it apart. It went to 3 different shops before I finally got the the 3rd shop where I could actually get it on a lift and use the right tools to take the engine out and turn my progress around to being productive.
The guy helping me use the shop would have to leave a couple months at a time so for the most part I was not able to even look at my car.
I enjoyed the whole process, filling down the rings just enough so they make clearance, cleaning the block, painting it satin black. I used Eagle rods and pistons (the pistons were so much fun to put in!!!), all we had to do was mill the head and hone out the block; cylinder 1 had a slight wear on it and I think I have one side over pistons. Got all new bearings, lubed those up really good! - 2 of the 4 were close to spinning. I am using ARP studs, a whole new gasket kit with a cosmetic head gasket, I didnt put in the high rev valve springs, but made sure to check all of the clearances with the plasti wax tape a few times and the shims (right?), cleaned out my oil squirters, left the cams and crank alone since those are pretty much bullet proof anyway. I rebuilt my Ct-26 turbo just so I can tune to stock and go from there. In the process I switched from the tubular manifold back to the oem cast exhaust manifold and got that ceramic coated along with my turbo housing to cut down on heat since I dont have the stock 'no no, hot hot' shield. I went and bought all of the stock hoses for coolant and vaccum from a Toyota dealership. Total I spent $225 on the hoses, and 3 of them are discontinued- so sorry in advance if you cant get some anymore.
I am running an ACT 2600 street disk, pretty yellow! Lol.
I also deleted those flappers on my throttle body, and the egr valve. If anything does come of it I have double of those parts that I can return it back exactly the way it was. For the most part I dont notice any difference, but it has been a year since I drove it last so my comparison isnt exact. It has plenty of zip, the only problem is that I'm not running much boost so getting started is pretty slow, also I'm still getting use to where the clutch engages. But the 2600 clutch doesnt seem that much different from the clutch that came off.
I know evos are much newer; but driving my friends evo- he has the same clutch that I do, only thing is that his is much stiffer than mine. With his you actually have to use more muscle, with mine, its not that hard to push.
I still need to repair a rim thats been cracked since I bought the car. My wheel bearings are making a lil noise so I need to replace those, I have all brand new brakes- returned to oem that way I can just tool around and save up money so I can switch it to a big brake kit to compliment the racing brake fluid that I already have running through the lines.
My goals for the car are to do more of the auto-x events, but in order to do that I will need my car to handle as good it not better than the evos and stis that are running around here. I have been interested in the under body brace from the gentleman here on the board, also looking to go with 3" or 2.5" exhaust, I already have the 3" down pipe but everything else is stock and before I bought it it already had the cat removed.
For now that's all that I remember; also I'm sitting at work typing this up otherwise I'd have pictures to go along with my story.
So there are still improvements to be made but atleast I got it running.

Now we just need pictures of this beast

How did you get access to the lift? Just go around to commerical shops and ask?

I thought about doing this but I figured that for one, a commercial business wouldn't let me use equipment if it doesn't make them any money. And two, I figured there would be problems with insurance letting a random person run around your shop.

No I didn't go around to the shops asking if I could use a lift. I actually am good friends with one of the kids of a shop. I did most of the work on the floor... and only used the lift getting the tranny out, and putting everything back in, and then the first start up. So my car was actually pushed towards the back where I could work on it with minimal space. As long as I put everything back where I got it they were fine with me using the tools, and made no mess, also I did have minimal insurance on me; but if I was hurt enough then they joked that they'd have to kill me and throw me in a ditch. But I only got cut once- cleaned myself up and kept working.
It was go great of them to allow me to do that, one it saved me tons of money in labor charges since I did all of the work myself. The guy watching over me had plenty of projects to work on of his own, so it worked out perfect. I could work and so could he, and I can actually say that I worked on my car on my own.

What do you want to switch the top mount to? You will still want to have a bov if you switch to a fmic.

I do want to keep the bov, but the other tmic that I have doesnt have the flange welded to it for my bov, and my old top mount had to be welded so its only a temp fix. I was thinking of going with the water to air cooled.

So just last week my exhaust broke-- again. It usually breaks at the flex pipe. I've had it welded twice already. Good thing is that I just sent my payment for the 3" exhaust!!!! Hopefully the exhaust gets here in time for me to put it on and then go down to Kansas City for the Import Face Off!!!
By the way my car will be in the car show.... and I will be in the hot body contest!!!!!

It's been a while since I've updated what has been going on with my car.

I parked it in the garage over the winter a couple years ago and when I went to pull it out for spring my clutch would not disengage all of the way. (Clutch to the floor, pull foot off the brake and it will keep rolling.)
I also had an oil leak 3k after the rebuild.

Ended up pulling the motor last fall so I could see where my oil leak was coming from, bought a rebuild kit for the power steering pump, and to look at my clutch issue.

Long story short, ended up replacing all 4 wheel bearings- they fell apart upon removal, rebuilt power steering pump, my brand new ACT clutch- they ended up warrantying it for me because one of the fingers on the pressure plate was slightly off. Now I have another brand new ACT 2600 clutch. Found out the front main seal was ripped somehow. Replaced that.

I also got new rims since my lovely motegi's cracked from the previous owners.
Also swapped out my Fuzion ZRi's for Nitto 555s. Not sure how I like them yet since I really only have a week of driving on them to and from work.

I also developed an issue with it staying running. It idled fine, but going down the road it was a dog!
Ended up checking my timing again. (Keep in mind my car after the rebuild now has 3,168 miles clocked on it)
Timing over all this time changed. The distributor moved so the engine was retarded.
Easy fix though. Timing light, set it, tighten bolts and I'm back in business.

Went to the junkyard over the weekend. Was a little on the warm side but I love garage sales and junkyards so I wasn't complaining.
I have 4 vehicles, boyfriend has too many to count, friends have mentioned parts they were after- so off I went!

Fixed the sunfire's antenna after a car wash ripped it off.
Picked up a nice taillight for the dodge even though it doesn't need it....
Found a black celica so I ended up pulling the antenna, sunroof motor, drivers door switches, and gas cap.

Yes, those things are not the greatest in my vehicle- but I bought it that way and haven't complained the whole 7 or so years that I've owned it.
Replaced the antenna- it now goes up and down, but I still don't have a radio. It works but is all static and I haven't had the time or the guts to figure out just yet.

Exactly, how did you miss it?!

I didn't update that information, but my car took best of Toyota, and I got 3rd in the Hot Body Contest, won $50 so that paid for my trip down there. The 1st and 2nd winners were the two models that they hired to be there. But now Import Face Off isn't holding events in Kansas City anymore.

I figured I would have to pull the radio... Honestly not looking forward to it. I figured I only have a good 20 minute drive to work so I can withstand my own singing for that long.

Pics or it didnt happen.... :p

Second its most likely just unplugged at the head unit. Shouldnt take but 2min to pull the headunit to verify. On the off chance there is something wrong with the antenna you can always get an adapter that attaches to the jap rear window antenna. I think I picked mine up at a best buy for cheap.
