i bought this car in arizona from a friend for $1000 who bought the car intending to get it running, the car has 80k miles with a seized engine/turbo which leads me to believe the owner ran it out of oil. i would say the interior is in good condition but needs some tlc. the exterior would be ok but the rf fender is kinda bashed in and by the looks of it somebody tryed to fix it with a ball peen hammer. thankfully my dad does bodywork so it should be no problem.

heres a pic its from my phone and the lighting is terrible and the car is super dirty/snowy but its the best i got.
gotta love the Minnesota cold

2/3/11 - radiator out, electrical connections off, harness run through firewall, vacuum/fuel lines off, clutch cables off, front brakes off, steering knuckle disconnected, exhaust is hanging(cant remove it completely)

found that the the other person that owned this car removed the factory muffler and made the exhaust a 1 piece from the midpipe all the way to the tip.. so it has a 2.5" strait pipe. kinda nervous as to how loud its gonna be.

2/4/11 - removed the cv axles and prop shaft removed alt. pwr steering, and ac compressor, supported engine with the cherry picker, removed the lower cross member, and engine mounts lowered the engine and wiggled/jerked/pryed/cussed the dam thing out of the engine bay. got the engine on the ground and strapped up the core support with a ratchet strap, and got the car high enough to pull the engine out from underneath.

i am working all by myself so getting this engine out was extremely difficult for me. this is also only the second engine i have removed from a car newer than 1980..

heres the pics for the day they are with my camera phone so sorry if they are crappy

unfortunaly i cant afford it at the moment, im running into lots of little things that are bad. tie rods, balljoints, all the axle boots, rack and pinion boots, motor mounts....

since it was an az car there is zero rust but everything that is made of rubber is totally garbage

PARTS!
speed-source mounts and stainless clutch line!!

question for the mounts.. one of the bushings has a thicker lip and insert than the others. does this one go in the front or rear?

the one on the left?

02/11/10 - today i started tearing into my engine to get it ready to drop in.
started by removing the alternator and a/c compressor so i can get to the downpipe/catalytic converter.
i ordered a berk downpipe to replace it.
removed the intake mani to get to the wiring harness underneath it.
removed the wiring harness labeling each connector.

it was a snowy day :D

im going to be using the oem harness. my plan is to painstakingly unpin the ecu connectors and whatnot, plug in the sensors to their location and route the wires where they need to go.

i have started by drawing the connectors, labeling each pin with a description and wire colors

I am preparing a ST205 swap into my 1990 ST185, so I have a lot of information about the wiring that could help you. I will get back to you on this.

Here is the content of a Excel file that I made concerning the ECU Connectors and the dash connectors beside the ECU, in the cockpit.

The ST205 and ST185 (1990 Canadian Alltrac pinouts)
ECUconnectors.jpg

The wires going out from the fuse box to the left fender (some By EA1 connector and some are beside it and are cut)

The dash connectors beside the ECU (Randomly numbered):

Sorry for some french...

MADE MYSELF A SHORT SHIFTER WOOT WOOT!!

took the shifter out,
removed all the plastic stuff.
drilled the pinch on the side of the main ball,
cut the shifter shaft about 3/4 inch above the main ball,
used a press to move the ball up the lower shaft about 1 1/8 inch,(the shaft in now recessed 3/8 inch into the ball)
welded the shaft to the ball in the recession as well as where i drilled the pinch,
cut the upper shaft another 1/2 inch,
put upper shaft into the recession that is left after the weld, welded upper shaft to the main ball,
got 1/2 inch longer bolts for the base,
added 1/2 inch spacers for each bolt on the bottom side of the base.

VOILA!! short throw shifter FOR FREE!!

i also had to mod the shifter base itself because the cable hits the sides of the base in 5th and 1st gear.
cut out 2 inch by 1 1/2 inch from each side where it hit made a piece of steel and triangulated it out a bit and welded it back together.

i'm gonna have my mommy sew me up a swede shifter boot that fits the new shifter!

hey whered u get the heat exchanger?
where ya gonna mount it? piks when ya get to it

its an ebay heat exchanger i got for 80 bucks, only thing that sucks is that you have to find fittings for hoses. i plan to mount it infront of the a/c condensor. hopefully it fits.
