I love how the bags have a nice mix of languages for describing the parts. Or course, it also reminds me a I have more organization of my 'extra' hardware to do... (all the fasteners I could pull off my ST205 clip + an extra Camry chassis)Meurz":75z9vhcw said:
Well I've used mine for anti-theft as well as easy access and I guess when the car is fully caged up, getting in and out will be a lot easier with the wheel out of the way. Specially if you're not a Russian circus artist.darthripley":2h50389m said:You prolly don't need it with Carlos on track days
Thanks Mehmet. That last line is German btw, I'm Dutch. :wink:RoAdbOy":2h50389m said:I've always wait for this thread rene so happy to see, i'm sure it will be a super project.
Viel Erfolg!
Lol yeah I tend to use English as well when marking up stuff. Sometimes I can't even remember the Dutch word for car parts of which I do know the English word. :doh:phattyduck":2h50389m said:I love how the bags have a nice mix of languages for describing the parts. I love the work done to stitch/seam weld the chassis. You WILL notice a difference, and it will be totally worth the 5-15lbs of welding wire you add to the chassis. Hopefully you will add a few extra stiffening plates here and there. I probably missed it - are you doing a cage while you are at it?

I'm only welding up the most important structural parts in between the suspension pickup points fore and aft. But I'm cleaning up as much seams as I can to check for rust.celigts":2h50389m said:Are you literally welding every seem that's not already welded? Or how do you know what to weld then
Doesn't your steering column have the auto-tilt away feature from the factory ?Meurz":325ig8am said:What do you think of the flipper? I've been looking at it when I placed my WB order but decided against it (less is more?). Does it really make that much of a difference?
Yes it had. But I hate that system, so I removed it.4rsnduction":1rmqvz7d said:Doesn't your steering column have the auto-tilt away feature from the factory ?
The WB flipper only makes it easier to get the wheel off, it's not a hinge. WB makes that as well but it's a different product.Auto-tilt away + extra tilting away from the WB flipper would get the steering wheel right up into the speedo cluster.
I don't have a clue tbh, I've worked a load of weekends and a lot of evenings on it so far. So it's a LOT, that's for sure. The way you strip the interior is quite epic, how many man hours of labor do you estimate so far ?
Hi Josh, yeah it is easy, see my post here: http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=372017#p372017.CMS-GT4":2zfrnt6s said:Is the auto tilt system easy to remove? I hate it. That thing is going to be intense to drive. I rallied a stripped focus on a gravel course once and it was a bit much. I am sure this will be exciting on the road course.
I hope so!nw94rs":2zfrnt6s said:This things going to be sweet.
Not that I am aware of. Mine doesn't have one but then again others might? There still is so much unknown about these cars!GT4RC":2zfrnt6s said:My RC's have both had a button on top of the column to turn the auto-tilt on and off. Did the CS have the same button?
Edit: Or was it on the bottom? It's been a year and a half since I sat in her....
Thanks mate, I appreciate it. I have the exact same thing, hence I made this thread. I enjoy reading others a lot and they always motivate me to get my ass in gear, lol. So hopefully I can inspire others with my build as well.schweizerceli":2zfrnt6s said:Thanks for sharing your progress Meurz. Mad props right there buddy.
My motivation level just went through the roof!! lol
As per PM I am not doing the roof swap myself, I had a body shop do it. Pics to follow. I am however interested in the manuals anyway, to add to my ST18X related manual database. Thanks for the offer!athousandleaves":2zfrnt6s said:Rene,
If you need a copy of the official toyota "Celica Chassis and Body Repair Manual" for when you go at the job of removing your roof and re-attaching the 'new' one let me know and I can scan a copy of mine.
Recently picked up the book from someone selling a lot of toyota manuals and it has quite a few good tips and pointers for major bodywork jobs.
keep up the awesome work!
