As usual I haven't updated this in a while. I haven't made much progress on the car in MONTHS. Its been a crazy summer and I'm looking forward to the fall and winter when I've got more free time at home to work on it. I haven't forgetten about her though. Today I picked up this beauty.
Strange car. Its a GTS but with no options. roll up windows and all but does have AC.
The car has an RC engine in it and runs pretty darn good. The brakes were super sketchy do I wasn't really able to push it.
I'm quite pleased with the car basically rust free and the swap is really clean! I'll get some better pictures in the day light.

Oh and Andrew.... They guy who owned the car had no idea it wasn't 4wd and no clue what engine he had in it.

Yeah. This was a huge score!
I'm going to take a much better look over the car as soon as I can.
I should end up getting the hood for free in the end.
I'll be putting brakes and fixing the exhaust then selling it more than likely

Looks clean!

If you decide to sell it I would be interested. As is even, especially if it's still close to my neck of the woods.

Hey Nick,

The car has already made the trip home to Barrie so its about double the distance it was from your place.
If your seriously interested in the car shoot me a PM. It will be re-sold just depends on how quickly I put back on the market.

As usual its been a while since I last updated this post. The frequency of the posts is reflective of the amount of time I can find to work on the old girl.
I have picked away at a few things. I have the doors assembled but wont put them on the car until the build is basically done. One less thing to worry about scratching.
I also got the gas tank and rear subframe installed. I had luke (klue) modify my sending unit to allow for bigger lines and had to massage the trunk a fair bit to install but she is now in.
I also made my decision when it comes to powertrain. I picked this up on the weekend. I am going to send the harness to Doug at wiregap shortly to get built and do the tune up while the harness is gone. I'm hoping that by having the engine here it will light a bit of a fire under my ass to keep this project rolling. Other than time there is very little that will stop me from driving the car this summer.

Well I must say the Canadian dollar sucks right now!!!!!
I bought my gen4 for $750 Canadian but after adding the cost of an ECU, Downpipe and tune up kit from the states every penny I saved on the engine was more than made up for in conversion rate on the parts.
from Prime I ordered the tune up kit and MSD tach adapter less than $500 US worked out after shipping and taxes to over $700 Canadian. My harness conversion again $500 US or over $700 Canadian and the downpipe at $300 US and just shy of $400 Canadian I've spent over $500 just on Currency conversion!!!! How I wish I bought all of this a year ago when the dollar was close to par!!!
End rant.....

Between the currency conversion and taxes it's ~1.5:1 right now, add in shipping and potential brokerage fees and you basically double the price you see in USD. Still, good to see you're still making progress on this!

ST215 engine! I love that motor. If my car didn't have the ST205 WRC engine in it I'd definitely swap for an ST215. The one I had in my MR2 was just a dream to drive daily. I love the depth of this build, really awesome to read.

Thanks guys!
Progress is quite slow but steady on the build. With a busy work schedule and a 1 year old and 4 year old running around the house, I don't get out to work on it nearly as much as I'd like. At the rate things are going I feel I've got about a 20% chance of driving it this year but hey... It's a chance :) As long as I get the engine in and running by years end I'll be happy so that over the winter its just all the small finishes and will be on the road as soon as the salt is cleared off the roads in 2017

As of late I've been making a bit of progress on the old girl. I've done a lot of shopping lately and have accumulated most of the big-ticket items needed to finish off the build. Currently, the 215 motor has been stripped down and I've sent the valve cover and intake manifold out for paint and should get them back tonight.
I've got the harness back from wiregap along with the new downpipe in the picture. I also found a set of wilwood front brake set up that is currently being shipped from the UK which I am really stoked about.
Hopefully, next week I'll get around to doing all the maintenance item on the engine and get the transmission sent out for paint so I can re-assemble everything and get ready for installation. At the rate things are going there is actually a chance I will drive it before the snow falls though I'm not holding my breath as with a build of this size I'm sure all of the little things will take longer than expected.

So this isn't related to my build but a friend of mine just sent me a bunch of old pictures of the car from AutoX events. These would be probably 5 or 6 years old. Basically, the last full season the car was on the road. Brought a tear to my eye and hopefully lit a small fire under my ass to start working on it.
The green OEM wheels were for track use only and I thought at the time it made the pictures look awesome.
