New guy here.
Found the car in Ohio. Has 127 miles. Flew out, drove it back to Texas with my wife. Car made it with no issues. I was told 1st owner had the car Ziebart protected. No rust, car is in pretty awesome condition. I'm still reading on the forums to see what to refresh or replace first. I'm a noob so any insight or help is always appreciated.

This will be hard because it's sorta my daily driver. Wife works from home though, so i should be able to use her car 2-3 days a week. :)

Shifter is the squishiest shifter I've ever used in my life, and thats after the previous owner replaced all the bushings. E-break needs tightening. It's got an aftermarket security system from the 90s, hack job, that must go eventually. As well as a hard wired 90s radar detector. Exhaust also sounds like it could use replacing. Suspension is original, needs replaced.

First things.
I'm going to replace the old purple tint, front window visor won't pass state inspection.
Needs new wheels badly, so I'm gonna get some new rims to put new rubber on. I wanna do coilovers too, but well see if i can afford that for now.

wow looks super clean for an ohio car.

I'd look into the shifter issues. I've found the Trac to be pretty precise. I wonder if the previous owner missed the "sugar cube" There is a small square metal piece that looks exactly like a sugar cube on the shift linkage at the transmission. Its a wear item and can cause sloppy shifts. Fortunately it can also be turned around so you're left with a brand new wear face without spending a dime. I'd check there first. Some searching around this forum should turn up some pictures,

Ha -- I remember this one from ebay! I bid on it in a moment of weakness and despair at the state of my own project, and then decided Ohio was too far to ship/drive. :) Sounds like it turned out to be pretty much as described -- it looked beautiful in the photos. Really glad to see it show up here.

I actually asked the previous owner about the sugar cube and he told me he did not replace it, so mx6er's advice is probably spot on. You might also look into a short shifter -- the factory throw is pretty long, so shortening that up can really make a difference in feel.

Looking better already!
I'm over in Lubbock, about 5 hours away if you ever come this far west let me know!

What rims did you buy?
I have the Bridgestone potenza pole position s-04 which have been some of the best tires I have ran on my sti so far.
I can hardly get them to break loose even in the rain, they did alright during our baby winter storm as well.
They are beefier than the stock dunlops they came on my car, they might be what your looking.
You can kind of see what I mean in these photos, they are the same size.

Looks nice! 18's look good on sti. After some debate.. I think I'm going with 255/40 17, hope they fit.
Oh, and the wheels i got are 17x9 e30 Rota Torque - Flat Black.

These are the exact wheels on this wrx, but mine are flat black and the tires i'm getting should be a little fatter width wise, the pics below are running 245/40 17. Mine should be 255/40 17. Gonna try Hankook rs3 tires. They are a little more than i want to spend but have the exact look i want. NOW... imagine those wheels on an alltrac.

Wheeldude. Com has quite a big selection and there usually in stock. If not if you have the money work cr kai are the original rim the rota torques were built from.

Test fit one wheel. SEVERE rubbing, it's not driveable.
Waiting for spacers to come in. Should arrive midweek.

I really like how they look but it really needs to be lowered.
