Engine Head Number RC & CS People, Help!

I need some help figuring out what engine I'm looking at specifically in my garage.

If you own a GT-4 RC or CS can you please post the number stamped into the head of your engine.
You might have to loosen the exhaust manifold or pull the intercooler as it is stamped just to the left of cylinder #2 above the exhaust manifold.
I'd just like to know what people have stamped as sometimes what's on paper doesn't follow through with what they actually do!

One of my engines reads 11111-88383 and the other reads 11111-88385.

Maybe Toyota let the first few RC's get GT4A heads?

I have the engine serial number if anyone knows how to decode it...

As far as I know this is how the heads went on GT4's

JDM GT-4 Narrow Body
1990 - 88383
1991 - 88385 (01/91-06/91)
1991 - 88388 (07/91-07/91)
1992 - Same as 91
1993 - Same as 91

JDM GT-4 Wide Body
1990 - 88383
1991 - 88390
1992 - 88390
1993 - 88390

JDM GT4 A
1990 - 88383
1991 - 88383/88388/88385
1992 - 88388/88385
1993 - Not In Production

JDM GT4 RC
1990 - Not In Production
1991 - 88390
1992 - 88390
1993 - n/a

EDM GT4 CS
1990 - Not In Production
1991 - 88391
1992 - 88391
1993 - n/a

EDM GT4
1990 - 88384
1991 - 88386/88389
1992 - 88391
1993 - 88391

USDM GT4
1990 - 88384
1991 - 88386/88389
1992 - 88391
1993 - 88391

Huh, why so many models? How different are they?

I am currently trying to get a few gaskets and bolts from Toyota for my new motor. They list two different parts for some things, split by year it was made, like so:

"25508 CONVERTER SUB-ASSY, MANIFOLD
25051-74010 3SGTE..ST185 (10/1989 - 06/1991) 1
25051-74020 3SGTE..ST185 (07/1991 - 08/1993) 1 $344.35"

Now I personally have a 88385, which I'd assume falls under the first one, 1991 (01/91-06/91), but if you look at the above list of part numbers and year, some 1992 GT4 A's had this manifold, which falls under both groups of years it was made (01/91-06/91) or (07/1991 - 08/1993). Can I use either or?

I'll probably go with the (10/1989 - 06/1991) part seeing more of 88385 was 1991, but this makes things confusing. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Timmey

to my knowledge, there is no difference in the head of the standard 2nd gen 3sgte between normal gt4 and RC/CS. Neither for the block/pistons/rods/crank etc either.
Only differences are W2A, ecu, g/b and gauranteed torsen rear diff, some funky badges, bonnet and bumper

That seems to make sense to me. Any ideas why Toyota would offer two sets of gaskets, separated by year? I wonder if it even matters.

Pretty sure that I heard something about the RC engine getting laser cut journals or shims or something from one of my friends... Not 100% on this but I have another RC engine yet to check for verification.

There are a lot of quirks with the GT-Four RC that we are slowly discovering.

"To improve heat dissipation in the valve area next to the valve seat, the 3S-GTE cylinder head uses the world's first laser-clad seats. Welded by laser beam, the one-piece structure allows heat to dissipate more evenly."

Taken from the GT-Four RC Press Release.

Four months later and I finally got around to checking my friends RC swap head.
His car has the 11111-88385 head number with a transmission dated September of 1991.
My RC engine has the same stamp and the transmission is dated January 1992...
Seeing as RC's were made from June 91 to August 92 it all seems to check out now to me... just contradicts my resource for the head numbers.
