FS Built 1990 ST185

Posting this here first... Seems to be a common theme, but I've lost my car to rust. The car on the whole is pretty mint, but my rear-most sub-frame mounts have rotted out leaving the suspension assembly mounted only to the two forward mounts.

This sucks, 'cause last fall I declared the project complete.

I'd like to try to sell the whole machine in one go. If you have a clean shell it's a pretty good buy. Here are the stats:

Full whiteline suspension - including all bushings
All suspension components sandblasted and painted
Stainless brake lines all four corners
rebuilt calipers all four corners
rebuilt power steering rack and pump
New fuel tank
New OEM brake and fuel hardlines
H&R 25mm wheel spacers
17" ADR wheels - Tires are toast

CS front bumper
New paint on the outside of the car
tinted windows

Custom leather seats
Momo steering wheel
Rubber shift boot
brushed aluminum centre console
custom 10 sub box
pheonix gold front end
autometer boost and egt gauges

Nemesis ECU
Garret GT3076
1mm oversized ferrea in ex valves
HKS 256 cam shafts
Custom cam gears
Custom headers 321 stainless
JE forged pistons .02 over
Tial WG
Tial BOV
Front mount intercooler
Stainless 3" custom exhaust
Aeromotive FPR
Bored out dual side feed single centre return fuel rail
SARD 850cc injectors
Walbro fuel pump

As the car sits now it runs and drives fine. It's tuned to 20psi and well mapped for cruise and startups. I'm sad to let it go, but this is the line for me.

Here's a gallery of the car:

I'd like to get $7500 for the whole kit, otherwise I'll be parting out.

I'm sure that it can be saved... I've just reached my limit with the project. I thought that it was all done and that I'd get to start something new.

If it comes down to it and I can't get what I want out of it, I'll be tearing it down to see what I can do.

Weird, I'm out in London pretty frequently... I looked at your pictures link and didn't see much in the way of rust, is it really that bad?

It's not really... Only problems are some inner fender, very minor, front sway bar mounts and the rear-rear subframe mounts. 5 or 6 years ago I repainted the whole bottom of the car - when I did the suspension and lines, but the mounts must have been full of crap on the inside.

I'm really not sure what happend. I'm gonna get it on the hoist and take some pictures.

Jake,

I'm still interested in seeing pictures of the rust, although I know what you mean about the rear ones somehow being filled with crap!

If you do go through with parting out the car I'm interested in a good couple of things and will actually be in London again this coming week so maybe we can meet up.

Off the top of my head I'd be interested in the whiteline bushings, fuel tank, Spacers, front fenders, exhaust... I'm sure there's more but it's 5AM and I don't know why the hell I'm awake!

PM me your number/general times when you'd be available for me to come see the car and we'll see what we can work out.

There is a local buyer interested in the whole car at the moment... If that falls through I'll likely start the part out via auctions.

Is there no way to weld in replacement pieces to save the rear? the rest of that car looks so clean :-(

Yeah, I'm gonna throw it up on the hoist this weekend and take a better look. Might just be as easy as fabbing up some tubes... Depends on how far the cancer has spread.

There's an ST185 out here with a clean body that had the front end smashed in a bit. Could always cut out the section you need and toss it on a pallet haha
