2JZGTE pistons in 3SGTE

I am noticing that they are the same bore, and in fact, they are the same stroke.

Could you use 2JZGTE pistons in the 3SGTE.

I know that the 2JZGTE pistons are cast, but treated to handle more boost. Are the 3SGTE pistons the same?

What about the rods. Anybody know the bore diamter for the crank on the 3SGTE? I would bet 2JZ rods are stronger than the 3SGTE

unless this site I am looking at is wrong, 5M/7M 4A 3S and 2JZ, all use the same size rods.

I can test this out at lunch with the 7M and 2JZ rods.

I coulda swore in the old thread they said the supra pistons were not any more special then the 3sgte ones. Could be worng though, I also though they said the piston was taller, and you would have to use different rods to clear the head or something along those lines.

They aren't any more special.. they are hyponeumatic or whatever.. same as the 3s.

The 2jz-gte rods are completly different than the 3sgte
3s-gte length = 5.428
2jz-gte length = 5.590
difference = 0.162

plus the big end bore is larger on the 2jz and the width is smaller.

I think it's hypercutic, though I don't think I spelled it 100% correct. :p
It's stronger than cast though.

yeah, site was bogus. Performance site that sells aftermarket rods too.

I measured 7M and 2JZ. Big end bore is the same, but length is completly different.

oh, they are the same hyper whatever pistons? Ok, then nevermind.

Oh, one more thing. Are JDM pistons any different? Someone told me there were, but I don't think so.

The first misspelling was funny. The second time it just became sad. The correct spelling is: hypereutectic

IMO - With good tuning, the stock pistons are plenty strong for the HP that the stock fuel system can support.

But I plan on aftermarket turbo, and larger injectors.

Looking for 300-350rwhp. Heck, maybe even 400rwhp.

I think the 2JZGTE has lower compression which would be the only real advantage. If you are only going for 350awhp you could do that on a stock block.

That could be a head design. I will have to compare the two when I get my spare(project) 3SGTE block. Should get it this week sometime.
