as much as the idea of sending it to you. I'd like to keep this one spare.

Honestly, just ask around, you'll find one easily. Espeically ask the guys who have just gone to aftermarket comptuers, im sure they'll have there spare.

guys I'm having a similar problem lately with a very low idle on startup. I just recently extended the wires to the afm in order to fit a straight intake. the car still runs fine once it gets hot, but it does not like cold starts right now. It idles at 800 on startup and slowly creaps up to like 1100 after 2 minutes. I did not use shielded wire to extend the afm wires, is this where my problem is? I didnt undo the screws, I removed the clip. So no I didnt screw up my afm. Car runs fine when fully warmed up. Any ideas?

i have no idea what they are worth and also no idea how much it would cost to send to the states.

i find it quite hard to beleive there is not one in the states. try sending a message around on the gt4 groups mailing list.

also mine is a jdm afm. i don't know if there is a differnce so it might pay to find that out.

I'm pretty certain you could easily find an AFM on the mr2 board for sale: www.mr2oc.com

That is if you have an ST185.

Good luck man.

Heres a question, can I use an AFM from anyother cars. Such as the ST165 or the MR2T?

just for clarification, does extending the afm wires cause this bad idling and other problems? or is all entirely the part of removing the screws on the afm. good thing i don't even know where the screws for an afm are! :D

and afms from toyota are $624.38

(we should sticky that too.)

and yes mr2t afm's work. st165 not sure. i doubt it

what wires would you use and where exactly could you get them? I want to extend mine also when I move my battery to the back. I might be getting one of those braille batteries used for Wrx's which is only 11.5 Ib..anyone have any experiance with this battery?

Yes you can extend the AFM wires no problem. Mine are extended, as is almost every single other wire in my engine bay.

Normal wire is fine. Probably 16 gauge for the most part.

ST165 AFM's are different, and can't be used on the ST185.

so you do confirm that 16 gauge wires are the right extenders for the Afm right?
