Q&A regarding engines, turbos, and intercoolers and power upgrades

Postby Hic » Thu Nov 19, 2009 6:26 am

Matt

Hi Matt

I am very nicely surprised with your dyno graph.

Can you please tell me is this a wheel HP or flywheel estimation?

If this is flywheel, can you tell me the WHP?

Also, did you resleeved the block or you use thick block?

Thank you very much

thought i would throw up a dyno from my car. I unchecked one of the scalling options in this picture but the numbers are right.

Image
Peak HP: 400whp@7700rpm approx
Peak Torque: 320wtq@6200rpm approx
Type of Dyno: AWD
Engine Displacement: 2.2
Engine Compression: 8.3:1
Camshafts: HKS 264
Turbo: GT35r
Turbo Pressure: prob around 15psi
Fuel: 1200cc
Fuel Type: 93oct
Engine Managment: Autronic SM4
Other Info: safe tune. a/c works, p/s works, high output alternator, 17x7.5 gram lites

retune coming this summer due to 1.09 chip upgrade, appropriate sized intercooler, and a few other mods.

320awhp@7200rpm approx (during tuning) at 9psi
260awtq@6200rpm approx

sorry, but i can not see how you are making 400awhp on that engine..

8.3CR, pump, 14psi will not give you 400awhp.. ( with a 20% drivetrain loss that will give you 500 at the crank..)

So my guess is that this is crank hp or you are running more boost than 14psi.. ( to make 500crank hp at 14psi your engine should make about 260-270hp as na, can`t see that happening on pump fuel..)

I'm number 1 for FWD? My car is basically stock and runs bad. wtf.

Someone put my car to shame! This is unacceptable.

thast why I said as far as I know lol. Car makes 564awhp at 25psi on pump and 320awhp at 9psi so i just figured it out from whp per psi.

EDIT- edited by post to say around 15 psi instead of 12.

264 cams, shimless buckets, oversized valves, street port, cam gears, exhaust fully ceramic coated, ...

I'm glad to see the power held a bit longer at the higher rpms cuz i was concerned that those cams would have been activating at a point where the turbo wasn't able to efficiently keep up.

I have 272's also and I am eager to see where my power will come in with a CT20b and with the TVIS also removed. I will be running on an oem ecu just to break in the engine though and would then put in my aftermarket ems.

I suppose I did a 234whp on a Dyno Dynamics, but I'd like to get some runs in on a Dynojet this year to compare. I think I'd be looking at 265 or so on a DJ.

Thought i'd add my results. Running super rich at around 10.7 afr's. Stock, no internal mods. 10psi.

103.5 kw @ 148kph at the wheels.
188.2 nm @ 144kph.

Super richness is killing the power.

103.5 kw = 138.8 Horsepower
188.2 nm = 138.79 lb-ft

Super richness is killing the power.

ouch, I would expect a little higher than that
