for people going with heat wrap - two tips

1. to keep the mess down, dunk the roll in water first. this also helps you get a good tight wrap

2. you can get silicon spray for coating the heat wrap. use it! it will make it last much longer.

i ordered mine directly from www.berktechnology.com and the wait isn't too bad, it was about 3-4 weeks.

guys! I didn't want to start a new thread.

I cannot get my stock down pipe off.

Any advice/tips?

Seems like the oil filter thing is in the way. Not sure how to remove it or move it without spilling loosing oil.

Stumped!

why not kill two birds and change your oil while you are under the hood. Clean oil never hurts a motor!

then you dont have to worry about spilling oil

Hey man. Just did mine the other day and what I did was loosen all the manifold bolts to pull the waste gate far enough to slide the dp off the studs. After that it's the same but the other way around. Hope this helps :)

I was thinking this as well. Glad im not the only one. I will try this today!

But just so we are clear...
Basically, your saying just loosen the exhaust manifold bolts, slide the entire manifold/turbo setup forward, then wiggle the DP free?

just bend the oil line thats in the way and take off the oil filter. use a crowbar or a non filled bar of metal to move it, dont kink it by putting too much pressure! good luck

Yep that's exactly what I'm saying. Thr nuts had to be pretty much all the way loose.

Note. This apparently took me 4hrs to swap. You'll need a swivel or knuckle socket to get to the stupid bolt directly beside the oil dip stick. It was such shit getting it on and off lol. Otherwise it was pretty easy after figuring out the manifold had to be moved. Clean the top of the manifold tho of rocks and crud cuz I had some fall between the gasket layers and now I've got a leak causing me to get mixed reading and making me run very rich

Worked on it for another hour today. Got the cat off, DP is still stuck. :bangshead:

How are you guys removing the studs with the DP still in position???

Looks like ill be doing the manifold loosen technique. Ill have to go buy a swivel socket to get that one bolt off behind the alternator like previously said.

Well atleast you got somewhere. Even if you would take the studs out it wouldn't help cuz by the time you got them
Out you wouldn't be able to get the bottom 2 out. If you can your a magician haha

Or u can save some cash and spend 15 mins to pull the alt and bracket.

Ditto.

Tensioner and belt removal.
Top and Bottom alternator bolt.
Unplug, remove alternator.
Remove 3 bolts and remove bracket.
