FYI 185's with WTA wanting a bigger rad

Well I had a top core from a CS and I didn't want to pay a fortune for a front rad (was getting requests around £70-90 quid for a stock one) and wanted a larger one anyway. So I went on the hunt for one and eventually found that, as I'm willing to sacrifice the air con and saved all that weight and space up front, you can fit an Audi 100 main engine radiator in there absolutely perfectly without modification to either...

570x305x42mm twin-pass core. £26.50 new on ebay!

No prob :) I'll add some more pics as I complete it. For now...

There's an 8mm and 16mm hose ports that need to be capped off, the 8mm one takes a bit of care as it's close up behind the slam panel and could easily be snapped off when pushing the rad in. And a temp sensor hole too, but mine came with a blanking plug in it. The two main hose connections are 32mm, same side, front facing.

Room in front to re-install the air con rad fan and another if you wish, I'll have that and a 10" SPAL pusher in there. There's also a slight gap of about 1.5 inches between it and the main engine rad behind, in case you wish to trap something in there or route cables/hoses through.

Just a little non-scientific FYI on this, since fitting it I've never had the CC water temp higher than body temp at any time. Pump on constant and fan temp controlled.
