Moroso 3SGTE Fabricated Aluminum Oil Pan 20935 Group Buy

I like my Moroso, but remember if you have the x-brace, u will have my problem. X-brace will not fit as is. I haven't had time to figure out if I can alter the brace, but it would change the design and probably the stiffness.

If nobody needs the oil level sender, I may be able to get them to make them without it. They are going to make these specifically for this order, I just don't know if that means that the aluminum is already cut and just needs to be welded or if they have to start them from scratch. If they have to start them from scratch I should be able to get them to do it with out the sender provision. As far as that block of plate goes, if they do have to sell it with the provision, I'll just weld a small block off plate on mine instead of spending that much on that little piece. Even a flat aluminum block off plate with some silicone should do it.

I wont be doing that on my track car. Much rather to spend the couple bucks and get a Oring sealed product that has been tested out the yang. If you can get the pan made without would be better.

I won't be either, I'll just weld the plate on it if I can't get it made without the provision. That won't cost me anything and will surely never leak! lol. But that is a good option for those who don't have such easy access to the a TIG welder that I do.

Damn I want this pan but, I also want the cusco cross brace

Once I get to this point with my car I'll probably see what would be involved in making a brace that clears the pan. Anybody have a picture or details of where the Cusco one interferes with the pan and by how much?

I didn't find a picture of the Cusco brace after a quick search but saw a pic of the ace engineering brace and it appears to be to far back in the car for the oil pan to be an issue from the picture I saw.

Sorry didn't take a pic when I was trying to fit it. This problem was noted by another member before when he was trying to install his Cusco one. I have the ACE one. Same problem. The brace and the oil drain plug of the Moroso interfere with eachother. There is not enough clearance for the drain plug to be unscrewed once the brace is installed. There might not even be enough clearance for the Brace to be installed at all. It was very close when I was eyeballing it during the install. If it did fit, then the clearance between the two would be next to nothing. You could alter the bar, or make a new drain plug location on the pan. Those seem to be the logical solutions. I wasn't interested in moving the location of the drain plug.

Good news for me. Sounds like I could just clearance the brace some buy cutting into the box tubing a half inch or 3/4" inch and plate it closed. Then move the drain plug for some extra clearance.

hey drag,
do you have any idea what shipping will run within the usa?

We ship UPS within the 48. I don't have exact weights or dimensions and exact location affects the cost some but I would guess $15-$20

K sick, lets get this list going so I have an idea how many plugs we need, and how soon this can go. I gotta get my car track ready in the next month and a half.

OK, I am in on the group buy....

As for the clearance issues, I looked at the pan....

If you just cut off about an inch on the back side of the pan as shown here:

Then you can retain most of the kick-out, trapdoors, and the benefits of the pan. You will lose about a half quart of pan volume, but that's still better than factory.

To replace that lost pan wall, you can either shave down the weld from the sides, and straighten the existing aluminum, cut it to size, and keep the drain. Or just use a new sheet of aluminum and fabricate a new drain port. (which I will do with the port located at a downward slope to ease oil changes)

I am down for this group buy depending on when it will end. Do you have a timeframe for the payment process so that I may allocate the funds needed?

There is no deadline set in stone. I can make it happen anytime after we have a minimum of 10 together. Whatever works for everybody is fine with me. My project is going to be a long one so I'm in no rush. I guess we should start a list of people who are in.
