Exhaust ?

Postby Hotrodhendrix » Tue Sep 18, 2012 2:57 pm

The plan was for a semi quiet free flowing 3' exhaust. Basically high flow cat, 12' glass pack style muffler and large straight through muffler. I come to find my current downpipe is 2.5' and at the connection point it expands to a 3' pipe back.

would this be considered a bottleneck as its only a few inches further down the exhaust path before it expands to a full 3' diameter?

Technically yes, also any changes in diameter can cause turbulence if not done right.

If you are after every single individual hp then yes, otherwise don't worry about it. I got a 3" downpipe made ages ago. When I came to make the exhaust I could not make the 3" quiet enough so went with a 2.5" setup, very quiet.

Thanks for the responses. I think for now I will just do 2.5-3 reduction piece after the connection point so that it expands evenly. If I ever do go for big numbers I can alter that fairly easily.
