The kit I used in my first post was actually really good and I highly recommend it. Can't beat 340 bucks

That included the bearings for the crank and rod? Were head bolts included?

May just go with that kit and then order the oil pump and a better HG. Still learning all this crap lol.

Oil pump that came with it is actually from the 98-01 Camry so you don't have to get that and yes it came with headbolts and all bearings. Complete kit

What was your total cost of rebuild? Did you need to get any machine work done? And did you use the HG that came with the kit?

Total cost was the coat of the kit. I just had to rehone the cylinders none were that bad. Yes I used the gasket with the kit. Its all just OEM replacement stuff.

One more question cause I didn't see anything in the ebay ad about it.

Did you need to buy a separate kit for a head rebuild? I assume so, but just verifying.

Like new valves and springs? You typically don't replace those unless they are bent

I just realized your kit is for a second gen motor. Judging from this thread I would also need to buy front and rear main seals and a VC gasket since I have a 1st gen motor?

Was also considering just getting these kits:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-2-0L-3SGTE-Engine-Kit-88-89-/140797842864?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c83495b0&vxp=mtr

A number of people on yotatech seem to think they make a good product.

Or I can get this kit for a 2nd gen

http://www.ebay.com/itm/91-95-Toyota-MR2-Celica-Turbo-2-0L-DOHC-Master-Overhaul-Engine-Rebuild-Kit-3SGTE-/281115473269?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4173c9b575&vxp=mtr

If I got this, I assume from this thread, I would need to get an appropriate VC gasket and front & rear main seals?
