Lo oil pressure

Postby Robin-evo6rs2 » Wed Dec 03, 2014 7:45 pm

Hi,

I just put oil pressure gauge on my gen 2 3sgte..
Seeing pressure's off 25 psi max with 100 degrees temp.

When she is cold i got 85psi with a bit off rev's
And 25 @ idle..

Hot 20 @ idle and 25 max with revs....

What can i do?

Measured on a remote oil filter, which is in a oil cooler loop with a 80 degrees thermostat( all mocal)

That doesn't sound that bad to me...especially considering that it is being measured through a remote oil filter. Pressures would read higher in the head where the stock pressure gauge gets it signal from

25psi idle is fine. 25psi at 3k rpm is BAD. which one are you saying you have?

20 @ idle

25 @ 2500 and up

does not go higher than that when she is hot

Ok also let us know what your viscosity is. Any bearing knock on start up?

Seems weird.

I would pull a bearing cap to inspect for damages. If nothing is found replace the pump, it may be that the pressure relief is bad...

wait a minute. is the engine dead vertical or on a lean? i wonder if you are having a starvation issue. put in an extra qt and see what happens.
