It is necessary to mount arp screws to increase boost

Do you need to mount ARP screws to increase the boost of a Gen 2 or is it not absolutely necessary?

You have to increase the diameter of the block to mount the arp screws? Are they wider than the originals?

Thancks

Do you mean ARP head studs?

The factory head gasket on the 2nd gen 3sgte is composite and not metal like the 3rd gen, so with age, a large increase in boost can cause it to fail. I don't think installing ARP head bolts alone will decrease the risk.

If you want to make a difference, I would personally take the cylinder head to a machine shop and have them deck it flat if required. Then reinstall with a metal head gasket and ARP studs.

ARP head studs for the 3sgte are plug and play (no block mods required)

If you don't change anything, I wouldn't risk increasing the boost much more than 10 psi, but there are lots of discussions on this forum regarding this topic.
