shifting into third

when i shift into third i hear this quick but hard "click" sound. Does anyone know what it was. The speculation made by my brother was the syncroz... but i used to have a 240 and 300zx and it doesn't quite sound the same (synchro sound). any ideas?

The syncro sounds wouldn't be the same because the car is a FWD layout, not a rwd one like your other cars,, the sound is transmitted through the shift linkages etc.. I assume it gets distorted slightly
