Looking at that drawing what do you think the largest diameter strut you could fit in there? 44-42mm maybe?

My only question is, why use the MR2 ones for the front, and have to cut off that little piece, when you can just buy the Celica ones for the front?

I did not modify the struts at all. They slid in fine, no need to cut, or trim anything off them.

I have no idea why OP did what he did, but I used MR2 fronts in the rear, and MR2 rears in the front.
Cut existing strut housing to size, welded them back in place, enlarged the rear top mount for the larger strut piston.
very simple, and easy.

It gives you an extra 10-15mm of bump travel which is important if your car is low and/or have a softish spring setup.

so to confirm; MR2 AGX rear inserts fit without modification in the alltrac front strut tube?

Does anyone have rear strut body length and stroke lengths handy?

Im trying to work out how well Koni 8611-1257's will suit.
Ive got 8611-1259's in the front already, but im pretty sure the body on those is too long for the rear.

Front MR2 shocks fit front all trac casings if you grind the bottom "cup" off
or be an Ass and do as I did and get all Rear Shocks and cut and weld all 4x! twice for the rear FML...

they will end up sooo crooked you have to buy an m48x1.5 tap and die set to fix your threads

and find out that spare x0012 kyb gland nuts don't fit and re thread those too

I have this conversion done in my car and the rears rattle like all get out. Ideas on fixing this?

I hope the housing length wasn't any longer than the original rears?
When lowered the back already has such a small amount of compression stroke left :(

Putting rear MR2 inserts in the rear of the GT4 would make them pretty over damped too.
Shocks are meant to match a particular spring rate... just using what fits (or doesn't fit in that case) isn't ideal.

Still nice and quiet as when I first put them in. My brother had to revisit his due to a poor weld but it's fixed again. :smokes:
