Pulling timing?

Postby aus jd 2703 » Tue Oct 25, 2011 5:19 am

Hey guys I'm starting to wonder if my engine is pulling timing so I'm curious how can I tell? Does the engine light come on? I've hit fuel cut and that's really obvious but I'm starting to worry I'm down on power because the ecu is pulling timing? I'm running a little bit more than the stock 10 base timing but only like 2 degrees as I'm running 98 octane gas. Has had a full service so should be running hard

I had the same suspicion so I did the LED knock detection mod. It confirmed the knock/pulling timing.

Just spotted this, which LED is it that's alternating? The 205 ECU uses, AFAIK, a PWM style boost control. If you're monitoring the boost solenoid you'll just flickering as it controls boost, which is normal, but if it's over-controlling the boost you'll struggle to identify it via visual means.
