How long should the front page be?

Postby alltrac.net » Tue Dec 29, 2009 1:36 am

Basically, how long is too long for the front page. Personally, I think it is too long already. How much scrolling must you do, to see the entire front portion of the forum.

I guess we could say, how many pages (as in pushing the page down button).

Now that we have sub-forums, we can really tighten it up.

I rarely look the front page. I keep a tab of unread posts open and refresh it when I get time to look through them. So to me, it doesn't matter much how long the front page is.

Put yourself in the shoes of a newer member and see what you think of the length of the front page.

IMO, as longer as better, I hate changing pages and work with main tab for the "unread" items and open the posts in tabs...
Also in the threads themselves, if you try to look for a keyword inside the thread, it easier if you have less pages to jump to.
AFAIK, most forum engines allow it to be configured by the user so everyone can configure whatever he like (me 1000 lines and you 10 lines per page).
