Swap to 4wd?

I've been searching for a project St165 shell. Alltracs are of course hard to find but non alltracs are not. I tried searching but I have not found a satisfying answer anywhere. Can a non alltrac be swapped to a alltrac drive train? Also is it a bolt in swap? Thanks in advance.

Fact1: Yes it can be done.
Fact2: It is not simple or straight forward.
Fact3: Its cheaper to buy a decent alltrac and fix it up.
Fact4: You often have to travel to find a decent alltrac.

+ 2 ^^^^ be patient and look in the south ... simply for less rust ...

Whole rear end of a fwd celica is different to the rear of an alltrac...

No mounting points apart from probably top mounts.

Floor pan is higher in alltrac for fuel tank.

fwd fuel tank is infront of rear axel and alltrac is behind

TBH to much work......

Only time this may be worth it if you really want a st205 but dont want to do something illegal in doing it. :evil:

I remember reading there were a few weird ST184s that were easier to convert than normal.... Don't really remember the specifics, though. Gave up on that idea a long time ago.

I recall reading that the hatchback and the All-Trac are similar, you just need to raise the floor pan of the trunk... Or some such like that. Damned if I can remember where I read it, though, and that might apply to the ST204/205, not the ST18x...
