Postby brian008 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:20 am

hi all, i have been looking at this site since i got my 1990 gt four in gun metal grey (jap import) and im the second owner of it.

I hunted for a while for the right car as i tend to hold on to them for years ( i had a classic mini for 11 years )
I got alot of history with the car so i know it was a good buy,

some of the bits changed

JE Forge Pistons
Upgraded Actuator
Stage 1 Turbo, Larger Compressor wheel
GT4 Eibach spring kit
Apexi Turbo Timer
Head Fully Rebuilt with genuine parts
Boost controller
and loads more.......

Car is not on the Road at the moment as i developed an leaky turbo so i have sent it in to get serviced. but cant wait to get it back. I will post some pics soon

thanks

Welcome aboard. Pics or build thread would be good :)

Not sure on the 400 mark. If I recall correctly I thought 300 or 350 was the limit of the stock fuel system. Plus I assume a standalone would be needed to get that much.............anything is possible though.

Yea, that will help with trying to get power. There are a few people here familiar with hitting 400+. Hope they say something or you find some of their threads :)

hi there :) welcome...
iirc you don't need a FCD, you can just disconect the turbo pressure gauge vacuum hose and fixed the cut off :D but i would still recommend to buy a FCD, because it's boring without a unfunctionally pressure gauge :)

Stock fuel system wouldn't make it past 300whp
The problem is the entire system, pump dosnt flow enough, fuel rail is side feed and internal diameter is too small for flow, likewise the injectors are too small for decent flow...

If you looking for 400whp then 800cc or larger injectors would be recommended aswel as a new top feed fuel rail and 255L or greater fuel pump........not to mention the standalone ecu to control it all.
Some form of cams will be needed as the stock duration and lift are pathetic compared to WRX and EVO rivals.
The turbo will eventually run out of puff, if you can get 400whp from the stock turbo i'll be really proud of you.....err.....your tuner :P

I do exactly this......i dont want to cut anything to install a FCD and i'll be getting a wolf v500 ecu soon to counter the problem

lol thanks for that mate informative yet funny :D , i went and bought a FCD but when i was fitting it there was a better one already fitted, 8) . as for the infectors i found 650 ones on ebay for £160 so they will have to do for now. i might have a think about upgrading the turbo to a 60mm trim and see how i get on with that.

thanks
