st165 to st185 swap. whats needed.

I'm looking into buying a st185 engine and trans. Will I have issues with the swap into my 165?

Specifically on the harness, and mounting bolts. Also will the existing drivetrain mount up to the 185 trans.

Along with any engine mounts.

Well conveniently nobody responded so how about a 205 swap? It's in the same price range and was wondering what'd be the hard stuff. Thanks.

The 205 or 185 swap will drop right in. Engine mounts and drive train mate up fine. You may need to do some work done on the axles, but the wiring harness will need to be modified. If the price is similar, go 205.

There are plenty of write-ups here, I'll try to find one and post it up, but in the meantime, give the search function a try to see what it turns up for you. A lot of guys here have done the swap, so give them a bit more time and I'm sure they'll post up.

PS - if you go 185, you'll have to address heatsoak issues with the 185 ATA TMIC as the 165 has no air scoop; less of an issue with the 205.

did you ever complete this swap? how did the wiring go? i'm trying to figure mine out...
