Rotating turbine housing.

Im wondering if anyone can help me out with this....It might be simple but I just want to make sure I am doing this correctly. I bought a new turbo for the celica and the housing is clocked facing downwards. I figured out how to clock it up to connect to the intercooler, however when I do this, the oil line flange that is suppose to be on the bottom, comes to the top. I posted pics of the turbo.

You are clocking from the wrong side.

See the snap ring under the "face" pretty snail looking side (in last pic you posted).. YOu will need snap ring pliers to open the ring while you clock the face only.

Most psnap ring pliers will not work as these rings are huge. May be best and cheapest just marking it and taking it to a shop for clocking.

Thanks guys for a quick reply. I had a feeling I was just missing something. I'll try to pick up some craftsman pliers that you mentioned, and give it a go.

Also keep in mind that from the factory there is a small alignment pin that helps keep the aluminum housing aligned to the CHRA. You will need to take the housing off to remove this pin before you can reclock it.
