just wonder where the best spot to mount the solenoid is. do i need to worry about it getting warm?

also i read that you can just plug the vac line on the turbo pressure sensor instead of getting a fcd, is this true? my car is a jdm st185 if that matters.

You can do this BUT you will no longer have any safety net if the boost can't be controlled.
Electronic boost control gizmo's can fail and that could leave u with 100% boost, and if the stock turbo pressure sensor is disconnected there is no fail safe to stop you destroying your engine.
Turbo pressure sensor is worth keeping around until you can afford a standalone ECU
