So most Celica owners are aware of the coolness of the old skool TA22, RA23 models etc. I quite like the look of the bosozoku Celica that has been floating around on the web. Quite specifically I like the look of the external oil cooler with the hose lines coming out of the bumper so guess what Im doing to my GT4 this weekend!

Parts I used was...
-dash 6 hose, 2.5-3m
-4x dash 6 straight end push lock fittings
-4x dash 6 to 14x1.5mm adapters
-4x o-rings
-and some zip ties.

I will post a pic of it when its installed but here's a pic of the set up and the inspirational Celica.

It may ruin (debatable) the look of that TA22, but its part of the bosoku style, and was also done during the 70's on a lot of Jap track racing cars.
So on that Celica, its not too silly.

A 185 on the other hand... yeah, its getting a bit ricey.
But again, if the owner likes it, why not :p

The cooler is just the stock trans cooler with new lines, but after a bit a discussion with some mates Im not going to run the cooler on the outside as it is exposed to rocks, birds etc which could easily damage it. Instead im going to run the lines over the top of the bumper and then in through the fog light grill bit and mount the cooler between the radiator and intercooler in an almost factory location. Hard to explan but you will see soon.

In other good news, I have booked a new paint job for the new year!!! WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP

I haven't been getting as much done recently as what I would like but I have a two and a half week break over Christmas/New Years so I will be knuckling down to get lots done.

However last weekend I was busy making up a heap of brackets for the power steering cooler and transmission cooler and I got them all mounted up. The front mount intercooler is in now as well so the bumper is back on and hopefully not coming back off. I've said before I like the bosozoku Celica's from the 70's and that inspired me to install the cooler in a not your normal way for this era of Celica. Love it or hate it is up to you but its different and I think its cool. Have a look at the pics

Getting pretty close to turning it over now. I've got the hot side of the intercooler plumbed in and I've started fabing up the cold air box.

I finished my cold air box. I just need to buy some 3" aluminium tubing for the intake, at the moment its made up of half ally and half stainless steel. I also found that with the front mount and and the ally radiator I had some over heating issues, well I fixed that up race car style.... Not everyones taste but I thought it looked ok.

Right, update time. It has been slow since Christmas but I knuckled down and got quite a few little jobs sorted. I even managed to get oil and water into the block and wired in the ignitor meaning that I could start it up for the first time. However nothing is ever easy, when I went to turn it over the starter motor popped out but didnt turn. I tried another starter motor but the same thing happened. I think there is an earthing problem between the battery and the engine and the chassis because when you turn the keys all the lights dim down like the starter is drawing to much current or something? Any ideas?

Anyway, in New Zealand we have a series of events for car people and the highlight of the year is the National 4's and Rotaries car show which I entered. I wasn't trying for any awards, i just wanted to show off my GT4, which was the only Celica at the whole show (if you dont count the Rayglass drag Celica).

Heres a pic....
