ST165 Water Pump Replace

It looks like I need to replace the water pump on my 88 ST165 (constant dripping coolant from the base of the crankshaft pulley). Is it possible to do this without doing the timing belt? Also any general advice on procedure would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The water pump is driven by and behind the timing belt. The belt must be removed to replace the pump. If the belt got wet with coolant, replace it. Check all other parts while you are in there and replace as necessary. Cams seals, crank seal and oil pump seals are all suspect at this age if they haven't been replaced.

Thanks for the input. I suspect that I will find some coolant once the crank pulley and plate are removed.
